I've already #voted (last week during early voting) and I'm really interested to see how the #Georgia #primary turns out. I'm very concerned about the governor's race and really hate the top two candidates who are running on the #Republican ticket. It has been difficult with Kemp running things over the last 8 years and I think these guys are even worse than Kemp.

I don't know if a #Democrat can actually win the state in November, but I am hopeful.

When it arrived I reviewed the instructions before installing it in the cabinet and discovered I had to activate the lock via a website that required an account set up with my email address before it would ever lock. The description on the website had not included this requirement. I got a full refund for the lock and found another lock that I could use with no stupid connection to the cloud.

Lately I've been obsessed with getting all my books (eBooks, audiobooks, paper books) inventoried and organized.

Some years ago I took a physical inventory of all my paper books and where they were in the numerous bookcases scattered throughout my house. At the time, I input all that information into a desktop application that has since been discontinued. I tried to manage my book collection through some of the online websites (ie, Goodreads, LibraryThing), but was never satisfied with them, eventually deleting my accounts and importing my inventory list into Excel.

At the same time I bought my first ebook reader (a Bookeen Cybook) and started collecting a bunch of ebooks. In addition to the Cybook, I've used a couple of Nooks & Kindles. Instead of buying ebooks I borrow many of them from a couple of different libraries that have extensive ebook collections.

I started using Calibre about 9 years ago and have been using it to manage my ebook collection. This week, I installed the "Import list" plugin to it and imported my Excel file of physical books into the overall collection. It is exciting to have the full inventory of books all in one place!

Trump not immune from civil claims from Jan. 6 speech, judge rules

A federal judge is allowing a civil suit brought against President Trump for his actions on Jan. 6, 2021 to proceed in court, a victory for Democratic lawmakers and Capitol Police officers who brought the litigation.

The late Tuesday ruling from U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta found that Trump’s speech on the Ellipse that day was not covered by the Supreme Court’s immunity ruling, determining it could not be considered a core presidential act.

He also determined the phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) asking him to “find” more votes was clearly an effort “to alter the outcome of Georgia’s election.”
