I'd be happy to help... Are you here for a few days on vacation? Are you staying downtown? I can get more specific with recommendations. Food: most cheap Mexican places are great, and there's good sushi on every corner. San Diego is known for fish tacos. Nature: Torrey Pines or the Glider Port for Ocean view hikes that end up on the beach. History: Balboa Park and its museums and the zoo, which lives up to its reputation and one of the world's best. The Hotel del Coronado is a tourist favorite. Old Town has good food (if a bit touristy) and history. I use our transit a lot but it's waaay more limited than the T in Boston. You could take it to the Mexican border if you intend to cross for the day, or up the coast to Carlsbad for a different experience (small but vibrant beach town). I'll narrow it down some more if you want to provide more context about what you'd like to see or how much time you have.
