Speaking of yarn math, I just attached the last ball of white yarn and I still have over half the blanket to go, whoops 😅

This pattern is a little awkward in that there are 2 rows of a color and 1 of white, which either leaves a lot of ends to sew in, or if I carry it along the side and hide with a border the color is always on the wrong side to pick it back up. So I am using 2 balls of the color and 1 of white and trying not to get too tangled.
My genius idea on the swatch was “hey, yarn balls have 2 ends, why not work off of both?” This did not work out as well as I hoped, so much tangling 😂
Started over on the baby blanket with a different pattern and different colors. It’ll be rainbow striped when it’s done.
The yarn is cotton, which I like for color and texture and lack of microplastics, but it’s a bit impractical to give new parents something that requires special washing, so I’m trying using a bigger hook, making it oversized, and preshrinking it in the wash myself. It worked great on the swatch, we’ll see at full blanket size….

I’ve spent all week applying design tokens to a Figma component library that I’ve inherited, and it’s cool you can do that but also an awful mix of utter tedium and suddenly having to make decisions between very similar alternatives which will be annoying later if you pick wrong (and also discovering general weirdness in the library)
The good news is I’m way ahead of schedule! The bad news is I have sooo much left. But it’ll be awesome when it’s done, unless all my decisions were wrong.

@sinituulia my intention would be to do it slightly after 2, but unless I’m fixated on it all day I will probably forget for 2 weeks or something
Last year I started making some leg warmers for a costume, but I didn’t finish on time and I didn’t like the pattern so I frogged it. But a few times over the winter I was like “you know, leg warmers would be nice actually” and I already had yarn so I finally got around to making some. They’re not much to look at but they are pretty warm!

@nomi@shark.community it seems like something the Chattanooga Choochoo might want, last time I was there I talked to some engineers who complained about the difficulty of finding maintenance equipment? It’s a long way to go if it’s in SF though
