«Les titres de séjour doivent être renouvelés chaque année, ce qui produit des ruptures de droits. Et lorsque les étudiants finissent par décrocher leur diplôme français, beaucoup repartent faute d’accompagnement vers l’emploi. Le problème n’a jamais été le prix. Le problème, c’est tout ce qui se passe avant et après, c’est-à-dire les démarches, l’attente, le logement, les conditions d’études, l’accès à l’emploi.
L’université française est un bien commun. Elle est ouverte parce que c’est sa tradition depuis la Sorbonne du Moyen Age. Elle est exigeante parce qu’accueillir suppose des moyens. Les étudiants internationaux rapportent 1,35 milliard d’euros par an à l’économie française, ils nourrissent la recherche (38 % des doctorants sont étrangers), ils deviennent, après leur retour, des ambassadeurs économiques et culturels. La France doit voir l’effort qui leur est consacré comme un investissement d’avenir.»
