@JDGeoShack@social.vivaldi.net Yeah, I think a lot of people aren't. I don't know. I mostly just remember seeing these threads when they were new and had forgotten many of the specifics. The majority of what is easy to find now seems to center on the first victim and doesn't go into many of the details in terms of repeated patterns etc. Given the general expense of legal battles, his resources, reluctance to have to relive such events, passage of time, and presumable lack of corroborating evidence other than hearsay, I doubt it. I don't know that any individual has a winnable case, even if they had the means and impetus to pursue it. To be fair I don't know any of the people involved or have first hand knowledge, but having dealt with narcissists and manipulators more than I would have cared to, as well as having friends that were victims of such, it rang true to me. They can be maddeningly effective at sewing self doubt, and in many cases have other facets of their personality that can be quite compelling. Being in a relationship with one is a special hell that can feel impossible to convey or justify to others. I have just always been struck by how quickly everyone seemed to forget and move on especially given the number of allegations and when I never saw anything that actually disproves or runs counter to them. I think people who weren't aware and seeing this kind of stuff at the time just read what is easily available, get the impression it was some kind of grey area behavior, see his apology and take it for genuine, and think he's changed from his younger days or something.

I had a similar concern cleaning recently but didn't think there would be enough volume to be a factor. I guess I was lucky to find peroxide and enzyme based cleaners first. As regards the metal, ammonia/ammonium are typically fine on stainless up to industrial temps, but apparently the chlorides in the urine are what make it so aggressive as it removes the protective chromium oxide layer, and without oxygen exposure that doesn't reform. Plus despite having uricase, a purine heavy diet means uric acid is still present among all the other stuff. Was not expecting the cat biology/metallurgy rabbit hole, but kinda fascinating.

@vfrmedia@social.tchncs.de @ozzelot@mstdn.social @the_turtle@mastodon.sdf.org @catsalad@infosec.exchange Interesting. From what I gather, in addition to the normal electrolytes and such, cat urine is extra high in urea (as you could guess by smell) because their kidneys are very efficient, urea is hygroscopic, and moisture in the air breaks that down to ammonium which is conductive and quite corrosive.
