I rarely trust anything anyone else says about me so I doubt it’s appropriate to ask anyone to trust anything I say about me. If I’m even real. Perhaps I am the sum of my actions and written thoughts; you can read the latter here, but it’s up to you to judge whether itʼs of interest.

(But I’m likely to post about electronic musical technology, and amongst other things, more politics than I’d like, autism, disability, trans issues, and things little and large in the Hebrides, with pictures.)

"Asexual acts" is a bit of a bizarre concept to begin with. Making them illegal ... that's a double negative into imaginary space, isn't it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzxlZG1sVyg #asexual

@noybeu@mastodon.social It's not clear what this could really mean. Will there be a register of cookie purposes that domain owners can sign up with, so that every possible use of cookies can be identified so UAs could possibly give users the option to choose? Seems unlikely. Or is it just some very broad generalisations such as currently found in many intrusive cookie banners - essential, optional, none; which is of limited use. ...

@disorderlyf@todon.eu @adhd_coffee@mastodon.social ADHD(PH) does correlate with higher levels of addiction to for example nicotine, alcohol and opiates, though afaik not so much to amphetamines, and to early death. ADHD(PI) or if you prefer, CDS, correlates more with low addiction rates, and forgetting pill-time along with everything else (but ideally wouldn't be intensively treated with amphetamines to begin with). So while in some cases both will occur, just saying "ADHD" may not give sufficient context.

@TechConnectify I wasn't sure but have checked. Good point. So 34mpg(US) = 40.8mpg(IMP)? It beats the 1987 Citroen, certainly. I note later you mention that it's a 2.5L engine; presumably that's a part of why it's still behind the 16-year-older Renault ICE. (Which is also what you're calling a minivan, though that's not how I'm used to the word being applied.) Other than the slightly shocking realisation that hybrids may be heavier on the juice than I'd expect, nice video btw. 🙂

@TechConnectify Location issues are weird, eh? "...a shockingly consistent 34 miles per gallon..." from a 2021 hybrid? And that's 50% more range than its predecessor...? But ... it's worse than most plain ICEs since about 1990, equal to my 1987 Citroen, long gone, worse than my current crappy old (2005) Renault (c.45mpg in Summer, maybe 42 in Winter, until you do long journeys when it can get up to 59 with a tailwind).

I wasn't up to going to town today so I didn't get fenceposts ... so having improved a bit I went out to do some pruning, and found the third sheep I've had to chase in the last week. And it's first time this year one of their lambs has been big enough to follow them in. While the mother jumped the fence again at the weak spot, this the first time I've actually physically hoiked an ovine for some years. I doubt I'd be up to lifting adult sheep any more... Tomorrow, fenceposts!

I watched a video earlier ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta13M0Jdd8A ) of some people doing a far-too-short but sweet version of Moon River. And mentioned it. And got the story of how an old friend of ours, who'd got the hell out of South Africa during early #Apartheid, later met #DannyWilliams and tried to tell him how much he appreciated his version, but DW was freaked out speechless, at being addressed let alone praised by a white* South African. Another of the stupid things racism does to us. 😩

However, I'm implying that the movie industry was not great at paying copywriters to do more than 30 seconds work on their posters. Companions who have to be killed off early in the movie to stop them being amazingly ecocidal! What an incredible adventure. Beyond imagination, right. I haven't seen it since the 70s but I'm sure I could do better if someone paid me for maybe ten minutes.

Is it so hard to believe in traditional liberties now? If the questions were framed from that perspective it might affect the outcome. (I am reminded of a ceramic tile I saw, in about 1988, as part of a fireplace in a house in Stornoway, with the text: "A RETURN TO TRADITIONAL VALUES: CLASS WARFARE ✊")

Compare that chart for 2019/2022 with this for c.2013 based on "The Political Compass" questionnaire and their assessment of current manifestos, & some historic examples. I'm unsure how far this is an artefact of different methodologies (and I was a bit critical of TPCs), but the zero points may have undergone a substantial Overton shift by 2019. A uniform assessment would be interesting.

@libreoffice @tdforg Meritocracy is attractive to those who believe themselves to be meritorious enough to have the right to decide who else shall be considered meritorious. Not so much to people who are used to being considered unmeritorious, or just have an interest in democracy. I did try to read the blog, but since the page consisted solely of a rather stylish spinning graphic I have to assume that I am not considered sufficiently meritorious to even read your thoughts on the subject. 🤷

On second glance she may be a little tentacular but that's fine by me obvs. and anyway it may just be the effect of all that dancing.
