Anyone know the origin of the term "computer language", the notion that the instructions to the computer are something akin to language?
Grace Hopper uses it in passing in 1952, but context suggests she expected this would be a familiar analogy.

Weirdness of reviewing a referee report that takes me to task for neglecting (checks notes) a topic on which I’ve been a leading contributor for 20+ years.
This is a problem with double-blind reviewing: it’s difficult at first glance to distinguish a decent modesty from ignorance.
I recall a previous review that noted the paper was kind of crazy, but the field has a history of craziness from such pioneers as ______ and Bernstein!
