I have two kids, one is helping me solder, wants to press buttons and see how the insides of things look. The other dances, sings and just wants stuff to work. The majority of the world just can't be arsed about things they don't want to invest their time in. I believe this falls under the "optimisers or satisficers" versus "maximisers" observation. See: satisficing. Maximisers tend to enjoy things less. Ignorance is bliss.

Nog even los van dingen specifiek benoemen per platform, is het daadwerkelijk handhaven in een grenzeloos iets als het internet, uitdagend. Een leeftijdsban, daarintegen is een stuk eenvoudiger. Oproepen voor een Nirvana-oplossing is niet productief denk ik.

By far the majority of things were thought up not with any malicious intent, that part comes after when private equity gets involved.

@jacqueline@chaos.social if you lose respect because someone is excited about something, did you respect them in the first place? I can relate up to some degree, except that I think I'm less for-or-against in this. I think the tech is mildly useful and I don't really understand why people are excited about it, but that's probably also the reason why some are so hyped about it: If it does snap in place for you, why wouldn't you be excited about it? Not treading in the murky environmental and infringe args.

@Tutanota short slogans are nice for marketing. The Internet is not safer for victims of harassment, when the attackers enjoy anonymity and no accountability because of it. Platforms can't abide by laws, if they can't figure out if their users are legally (of age) visiting. Brevity isn't winning any arguments.
