I caught a glimpse of what I assume to be the late 90s gundam OVAs and FUCK they look great unfortunately though I put them off for my eventual second pass over the franchise where I'll focus more on the OVAs and a couple shows that caught my eye, and that's gonna happen like a year or smth from now seeing how franchise burnout is already hitting me after half a year of watching gundam shit

it DOES suck that we're effectively locked off in our corner of the internet and it does bring its downsides (echo chamber-y behavior about the Undebatably Evil topics of the month) but I'd take having to run separate fedi and bsky accounts any day over having a single account on a neutered fedi

I don't get what's with people wanting fedi to go mainstream, like is it not exceedingly obvious that'd be the marking point of where things will start to go downhill I think fedi is as good as it is because it's niche and automatically filters out the kinda unpleasant people you'd find on bigger socials

@foone@digipres.club one of the reasons I moved to fedi in the first place was because a friend or two moved to lethallava.land years ago, so I not only had a figure of reference for guidance but also an instance recommendation, on top of having reached my breaking point with twitter without a "burst" of motivation like that I find it hard to believe someone is just gonna hop on fedi because of mild dissatisfaction with bsky

@foone@digipres.club I don't really buy the "people want to be breathed down their necks by hostile ceos" theory that I've seen a lot in replies, I rather think it's just that fedi is just too complicated to get into without some dedication (not needed to get into other socials) and without guidance from a friend fragmentation of not only instances but also software, including cases where certain software doesn't fully support things that other ones do (the most popular of those cases being vanilla mastodon not supporting reactions), does a mighty good job at holding people off I believe and then there's the problem of fedi just not having the topics and people potential users might wanna see here (artists/friends they know...) so in the end I think people unsatisfied with bsky just don't look at fedi because it has a reputation of being complicated/jank (which would absolutely be correct)

I believed when it released and I believe to this day, that sotv added the absolute best survivors of all dlcs thus far railgunner and void fiend are super unique and super well designed to be fun even before you get any items, which is not the case for many of the release survivors

my friend told me back when sotv was new there were people who argued void fiend was at their best with either 100% corrupted uptime or zero corruption I find that stupid as hell cause why would you wanna strip them of their most novel and surprisingly un-obnoxious feature and bouncing back and forth from the two states literally makes their kit double the size of every other survivor (with like two exceptions)
