I too started following soccer in the US when you could only get games in Spanish, and I find the commentary more fun, even though I understand less. The English-speaking commentators assume we don't know anything about anything, which is annoying.

How are the country abbreviations for the score bugs determined for the World Cup? The broadcasters will call it el paises bajos but the abbreviation is NED, or Suecia and the abbreviation is SWE but they don't seem to be English (NET) or the primary language of the country playing either as best I can tell? #WorldCup

For instance, I follow hashtags for sports I like, as well as my city and neighborhood. From there, it’s easier to expand out to following individual accounts you see posting regularly.
