Got some basics working for posts, topics, and categories. Progress!
Ok NOW I’m running into a few hurdles with stuff. Mostly because I’m so particular and don’t like being told how I should do something
Lots of progress today. Got the theming system figured out. Excited to build the first theme for it. Got basic markdown working. Syntax works and rendering does SOMETHING, but it’s jank and ugly and the editor is nothing lol
Also did some security hardening. Rate limiting, fixed a potential email exposure, setup csrf for stuff. Avatar upload restrictions. Little things I was putting off.
All in all happy with progress. Slow and steady. 0 styling. Templates are purely functional reference. Very focused core with extensions later filling in functionality gaps. Wee!

Ok stopping for now, but in a good-ish spot.
Got a basic permissions and user group system up, with a few hard coded as system requirement. Setup a multi-env config system for adjusting a site (it has a whopping 4 options atm). Posting working well. Backend is… ok?? I’m not a strong php dev I’m super winging this. I’ve written 0 styles
Honestly the hope is get it to a spot that I’m happy to replace my current forum with it (I have easy needs), and then open-source it all and let others help make it better where I screwed it lol
It will have the best forum template system period. I hate all the existing platforms template and theming systems. I’m making this amazing
I’m writing my own forum software now. I got frustrated with the stale options out there. I’m sure I’ll regret it but when it’s functional it’s going open-source

If I were to theoretically setup a public alpha instance of the new forum project, anyone following interested in testing it and logging ideas/bugs?
Got uploads working on irc server. Now you can upload and serve the files over my CDN to share stuff
Drag and drop doesn’t work in halloy for some reason (macOS). But upload button and /upload work great
It even sorts uploads by user folders and authorises using normal SASL

Too tired. Spent time cleaning up templates, making some sane twig helpers, and fixing some weird temp naming i did on stuff early on
But i did manage to finish the private messaging extension so that's nice. First extension testing the framework and no issues at all
I couldn’t find anything useful so I built my own Vite config for handling things the way we had Laravel-mix do it (sass, normal js, no framework)
I also built a plugin that lets Vite be a drop-in replacement for mix builds, which should just work in our craft projects. That saves a ton of headache
Finally rachni gets an update lol. I even fixed the install script for new projects
New stuff came in
Basic user profile and settings pass today. Social links (fields built in settings), avatar (with gravatar support), signature, bio, display name, change email/password. And some basic stats on profile page a-la phpbb.

I ended up doing a complete refactor (already...) to the core package. It sprawled out to a point it made me mad, so I dropped everything to rethink everything, Worth it though
Anyway fixed an issue where i straight up forgot to figure out how to render composer installed theme styles/assets (lol). Also made a quick little admin page to activate a theme because that's more user friendly for more normal people
I also got functional bbcode support going. I hate how it's written though. I tried to do this whole markdown hook thing and it's a bloated gross mess. I have to sleep on it but I'm probably gonna redo it all tomorrow
I made symfony do not normal things. It’s glorious. And I hope it’ll confuse everyone else. But hey user friendly skeleton and simple install!
