I’m going to be spending today “alone” with a friend’s family. I’ve realized that my #SocialAnxiety is really just the effects of trauma I’ve experienced over my lifetime with #Autism and the ways this world treats people who are different. I’m working to be more of my genuine self in public without the embarrassment I’ve learned to have. #LifeGoals

I know that at times it feels like there’s an overwhelming amount of #WorldSuck out there, but that’s not all there is. This world is amazing and terrible and wonderful and horrifying. There are roses to find in the thorn bush.

If you’re in the US, or if you celebrate the US #Thanksgiving holiday today, I hope you have a wonderful day and find many things to be thankful for. I’m personally thankful for all the people out there working to decrease world suck. 😉

The fact that so many low-quality polls which support a particular party and/or candidate should tell you what’s really happening in US politics.

Those polls are intended to back a disinformation campaign that the credulous repeat without critical thought to convince low-information voters and those “on the fence“ to pick the obvious winner.” In reality, they’re losing and they know it. Ignore the polls and vote your conscience.

I remember every time I see my mother working in a male-dominated industry and getting treated like she knows nothing despite having 30+ years of experience. In fact, everything we have in this country is something someone fought and died for. We should remember that every time we go to the polls. Project 2025 undoes literally every change in our society that many people fought and died to make happen. Justice and freedom should be FOR ALL.

@anathema_device@bne.social I wish that dishonest woman didn’t live in the US, either - but she does, and she gets to infect others with her poisonous lies. Did you know she’s going to Antarctica on The Final Experiment in December? She’s apparently “undecided” on the shape of the Earth because the “Liberal media” and “Liberal science” say it’s an oblate spheroid. I’m just waiting for a few small-time YouTube creators to hand her ass to her in person.

When is #FiveThirtyEight going to realize they’re being played as part of a disinformation campaign using large numbers of misleading polls to shift public perception?

That’s a trick question. They acknowledge on their page that their information can be misleading, and then proceed to misuse analytical statistics methods to generate bogus projections. The predictions are never wrong, you see - it was only a probability!

Ignore them and move on.

If you are following the #USPresidentialElection via #FiveThirtyEight and are worried about what you’re seeing there, please allow me to direct your attention to a line of text you likely missed on the page:

“538 uses polling, economic and demographic data to explore likely election outcomes.”

In other words, it’s all made up from unreliable data that probably doesn’t reflect reality as much as it does historic biases. Ignore it, calm yourself, and have a good weekend. 🧘
