@YesJustWolf @RuntimeArguments @jammcq I'm not yet a listener. I discovered Jim's post through a hashtag. But I'm adding your podcast to my podcast app. I've been using #UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems and #vi since 1983, though full time, through jobs and personal computing, since 1984. I eventually settled on using #Emacs for my editor of choice, but for some quick tasks #vi is easier to run and use, and the muscle memory is still there!

@RuntimeArguments @YesJustWolf @jammcq Was "vim" a thing 42 years ago? Or was it called "vi"? I was using "vi" 42 years ago, and I don't recall hearing about "vim" until several years after that.

@awb Bourne shell, sed and awk were the tools in mid-1980s. I started using Tcl in the 1990s.
