A talk I gave at St. Anthony's College at the University of Oxford a few years ago.
Since then, the revolution has been under increasing pressure in Rojava/North-East Syria, but the work continues - if it doesn't succeed now, it will tomorrow - if it doesn't succeed here, it will nextdoor

The project combines archival investigation, critical inquiry and practice-based artistic exploration to gain new perspectives on the ways the development of IEDs is intertwined with globalized techno-consumerism and media politics.
The publication Destructive Circuits: A Machine Archaeology of Improvised Explosive Devices (2024) includes essays, photos, a conversation between curator Florian Weigl and myself, and work descriptions. It can be downloaded here for free (but printed copies are available as well): https://v2.nl/publications/destructive-circuits

John Zerzan is the foremost thinker of anarcho-primitivism, an anarchist critique that rejects technological progress and advocates the abolishment of civilisation. Yet, despite his convictions, Zerzan lives a seemingly ordinary suburban life in Eugene, Oregon. We follow Zerzan around his house on his quest to escape from high-tech culture and experience life in the spirit of hunter-gatherer existence. While Zerzan struggles with various domestic technologies and his attachment to civilisation, the documentary medium accompanies him on his search while gradually regressing to earlier technological eras.
