Destructive Circuits is an artistic research project into the design and construction of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with reappropriated and hacked everyday digital technologies. It was developed as part of my Fellowship at V2_Lab for the Unstable Media in Rotterdam.
The project combines archival investigation, critical inquiry and practice-based artistic exploration to gain new perspectives on the ways the development of IEDs is intertwined with globalized techno-consumerism and media politics.
The publication Destructive Circuits: A Machine Archaeology of Improvised Explosive Devices (2024) includes essays, photos, a conversation between curator Florian Weigl and myself, and work descriptions. It can be downloaded here for free (but printed copies are available as well): https://v2.nl/publications/destructive-circuits
