@schmudde @jessitron true, though if you wanted to add artificial obsolescence into brakes you'd just need to change the pad shape or piston size or seal design or something every couple of years.

@schmudde @jessitron this reminds me of bleeding hydraulic brakes. There's a reservoir at the top, a bleed valve at the bottom, but the path that the fluid takes between those points (especially inside the caliper) is unknown to me and if there's an air pocket in there I can only deduce its existence from the effect it has when I apply the brake. Its almost literally a black box

@fivetonsflax I saw them at a motorbike show two years ago. They were next to "Infinity Motorcycles", who had ... zero motorbikes on their stand

@petrikas@mastodon.art I remember the early days of windows 95 and I'd say that had a strong claim to be the most open os ever - although maybe not in a useful sense of the word https://www.infoworld.com/article/2176957/worst-windows-flaws-of-the-past-decade-2.html

@chrisgerhard@toot.bike @b0rk@social.jvns.ca the color codes are terminals specific but the program is just as capable of ascertaining the terminal type whether its writing to a pipe or to the tty directly. Its the TERM environment variable

I often use jq -C . | less -R for example

Translating "it is ☀️ today" into grammatically correct text

... is also a feature I'd love in my regular text display, because it's much easier to read words than figure out hieroglyphs. Maybe I'm old.
