@b0rk Maybe not quite what you asked for, but when I wanted to step away from frameworks and refamiliarise with CSS, I had a lot of fun (and learnt a lot) going back to first principles with colour theory and applying some of that using modern CSS. @chriskirknielsen Versioning is a nice framing. It’s not so much demos are better but that they open a window onto a song’s development. The Beatles Esher demos are a good example. There are several takes of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, where you hear the progression from a basic sketch as instruments are added and the arrangement changes before the final version. Fascinating, at least to me. I wonder if, as more stuff gets generated, artists might share demos as a kind of ‘proof of life’.

@chriskirknielsen I really like listening to demos and comparing them with the polished studio versions. You can hear how artists develop ideas and how all the subtle nuances are introduced over time. It’d be great if more artists could share them. I’m not sure whether it’s (understandable) reticence about showing their workings, or something more business-related, but it mostly seems to happen when labels decide to repackage and re-release only the most commercially successful heritage albums.

@matthiasott@mastodon.social Hits the nail squarely on the head. But I can’t help feeling a bit sad the role needs to be paired with another discipline to legitimise it (see also Product Designer). Adding another specialism seems to add to the general confusion and fragmentation. Maybe I’m getting old, but Web/Digital/Interaction Designer used to be reasonably well understood/respected/compensated catch-alls. Businesses could hire for it and know the person would understand the medium they were working with.

@colly@mastodon.social Something similar happened with a Cambridge Audio amp I'd had for 20+ years, but I didn't have the courage to repair it. Couldn't find anyone to do it either. I'm sure repair shops used to be a thing! It got replaced by a new, cheaper one, sadly. Anyway, glad to see this repair job worked out.

OKLCH makes it easy to apply colour theory to select new colours that work in harmony with the existing primary brand colour by adjusting the hue angle. Or they have some tints and shades defined for the primary but not the other colours. Those lightness and saturation (chroma) values from the primary can be applied to the others.
