A princess was put under a spell so that she could speak only one word each year. If she didn’t speak for two years, the following year she could speak two words and so on.
One day, she fell in love with a beautiful lady. She refrained from speaking for two whole years so she could call her “my darling.” But then she wanted to tell her she loved her, so she waited three more years. At the end of these five years, she wanted to ask her to marry her, so she waited another four years.
