@bkardell makes me think of how people talk about other (good) food they had while eating food. I personally love this social activity

#EURail went off the rails with its data #security incident: https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/sections/33099464002205-Data-Security-Incident-Frequently-Asked-Questions

Personally identifiable information (name, gender, birth date, passport number, residence...) got stolen and went up for sale on the dark web.

In a recent email, EU Rail is recommending that clients take extra precaution by updating passwords and don't talk to strangers on the interwebs.

Why is EU Rail 1) storing 2) unencrypted #pii? Why can't users remove pii from their account after intended use?

@eyeinthesky@mastodon.social I am genuinely curious. What do you mean by a "real" schema language? What criteria should it meet?

More specifically, what would constitute successful interoperability for #ActivityPub in line with the aims of #SocialWeb?

#JSONLD is not a schema language. It is used to serialise #ActivityStreams as the primary vocab for exchanging social activities, providing a foundation, and leaves room for extensibility for broad human needs to express social matters.

The notion of robust links is a must have.

@dokieli https://dokie.li/ (source: https://git.dokie.li/ ) implemented Robust Links (c. 2017). Here are some screencasts:

  • Robustifying a collection of links: https://dokie.li/media/video/dokieli-robustify-links.webm
  • Citations: https://dokie.li/media/video/dokieli-citation.webm (part of the idea/work on "semantic citations": https://csarven.ca/linked-research-decentralised-web#semantic-citations - anything less in this day and age would be uncivilised)
  • Tabbing/view: https://dokie.li/media/video/dokieli-link-tabbing-hover-focus-click.webm

@torgo@mastodon.social @hadleybeeman@w3c.social @rhiaro@toot.cat @tag@w3c.social Thanks for sharing / getting it out! Great milestone for the technical standards community. Have been referencing EWP as the north star in https://solidproject.org/ED/protocol#introduction (c. 2021 if not much earlier): >We acknowledge that every technical decision has ethical implications both for the end user (short-term) as well as society (long-term). To contribute towards a net positive social benefit, we use the Ethical Web Principles [ETHICAL-WEB-PRINCIPLES] to orient ourselves.

@dmitri @phanpy Show me servers participating in CORS and I'll show you how deep https://github.com/dokieli/dokieli - https://dokie.li/ goes 🐇. Alternatively, use a personal proxy (solid:preferredProxy or similar). I'm quite literally waiting for AP servers to catch up so I can showcase cool stuff developed way back in... gasp... 2018.

@w3c@w3c.social Good call! In case this wasn't already considered or in the plans: may I suggest to run a script that creates a snapshot of all w3c account's messages at the Internet Archive / Wayback Machine? I suspect that some is already archived but worth processing it all. Preserving w3c account's history at a trusted third-party service like the IA would probably be handy in the future. At this point there is even less of an assurance that messages will persist but worth checking this out now.
