What is Benny? :think_starry_eyes:
In James Holden's words, it's a modular playground for live music making. He's going to teach his software during a Masterclass this Saturday at CCU!
Want to get a sneak peek? Check out this interview from the Le Guess Who backstage
On Saturday, you will also learn from @lucretiomsp how Pharo, Coypu, and multiple audio servers fit together. All free and open source tools 😎

Join us for two hands-on masterclasses exploring live coding, modular synthesis and experimental electronic music through open source tools. James Holden will introduce Benny, his open-source modular playground for live music, and Lucretio (@lucretiomsp@club.tidalcycles.org) will lead a workshop on programming music on the fly with Pharo, Coypu, and Phausto. Please note that this event requires some familiarity with live coding and modular synthesis.
Want to turn this into a full weekend of live coding inspiration? Check out the performance at TivoliVredenburg on April 24th, with James Holden, Turbulente & Eloi el Bon Noi, @sabrinaverhage@mastodon.social & Lucretio, and an afterparty hosted by @nl_cl@social.toplap.org. This week, we will be taking part in the Week van Circulaire Economie with a series of events at the Hof van Cartesius!
🌲 This Saturday at 12:00, come celebrate with us the birthday of our beloved neighbours: the willow and the oak tree.
🕵️♂️ Afterwards, let's go on a quest to detect examples of circularity. Collect audio samples, take videos, or even write poems about the curiosities in the area of the Werkspoorkwartier!
👉 We will see you again on Tuesday with a lunch talk about what it means to be a Zoöp, and you're welcome to spend the post-lunch dip with us for the screening of Eigen Grond. The movie documenting the process of shaping the garden according to permaculture principles by Kenny, from the Hof van Cartesius Garden Team.

Autumn is coming! And so are our monthly community meetups. We start off with a collaboration with NL_CL on September 12th in our brand new office space.
During this meetup, we will get together to talk about live coding. Anyone is welcome to take the HDMI cable and present their work-in-progress, display the issues they’ve been running into, and show their solutions! We will end the night with an open-stage jam, where we will be experimenting with live coded music and visuals.
Everyone is welcome to join the conversation, no previous coding experience is necessary. Come and hang out!
