@danyow@norden.social der Balkon ist auch nicht wirklich ein Balkon sondern ein Wintergarten mit Fenstern rundrum. Und ganz naiv: keine ahnung wie lang diese Kabel sind und auf was man da achten müsste. 😅

Wir wohnen in einer Mietswohnung und eine der Außenwände unserer Wohnung ist die Südseite des Hauses. Auf der Seite ist aber kein Balkon, sondern als einzige Öffnung nur das Badezimmerfenster.

Auf der Wand (und dem Badezimmerfenster) steht aber im Sommer gefühlt den ganzen Tag die Sonne.

Hat da jemand Erfahrung ob man sowas auch ähnlich zu einer Solaranlage am Balkon nutzen könnte? Ich stelle mir zum einen die Anbringung schwieriger vor (man müsste wohl die Fassade anbohren, da es kein Geländer zum anbringen gibt) außerdem Stelle ich mir die Kabelführung durchs Fenster und evtl. durch‘s Bad schwieriger vor. Aber vllt. ist das gar nicht so dramatisch?

Und verwandte Frage: der Nachbar „ganz oben“ (2 Stockwerke über uns) hat eine große Dachterasse, die über unserer Wohnung ist. Wäre es realistisch machbar (mit dessen Einverständnis) dort eine Solaranlage anzubringen (noch weniger Verschattung, einfachere Anbringung) und das Kabel dann zu uns runterzuführen? Theoretisch könnten wir uns damit ja auch im ganzen Haus zusammentun und gleich mehrere anbringen (für jede Wohnung eine, da kombinieren wegen getrenntem Stromkreis + Zählern vermutlich nicht geht?).

@alpennec@iosdev.space yep, I mean the arrowEdge. I checked all the variants of the confirmationDialog-modifier and I‘m pretty sure this cannot be modified. And sure, I can file a feedback, but this API has existed for a couple of years and was already a popover on the iPad as you said, so it would have been necessary to have it for years and Apple still didn’t add it. That doesn’t make me hopeful that a Feedback is going to change anything.

@alpennec@iosdev.space no, that only gets you the correct origin. But not the direction. I mean, by attaching it to my button it will correctly point to the button. But sometimes the info to make a decision in the confirmation dialog to the right of the button. And in that case I want to only allow the up/down arrow directions so the popover will be displayed above/below my button but not to the right of it where it would cover important info.

Really #swiftui? All `.confirmationDialog`s are shown as popovers in Liquid Glass, but the confirmationDialog-API has no way to control the arrow direction to make the popover look good and not overlap anything important?

(And of course the docs aren‘t updated because they still say that the popover style of `confirmationDialog` only applies in „regular size classes“)

@dentaku @drehumdiebolzen @dieliebenessy ich freue mich ja, dass es hier so viele Leute gibt die auch anfangen sowas nachzurechnen. 😄 Mein erster Ansatz war mit 2,4€ pro Liter zu rechnen um auf die 100€/Monat zu kommen und zu schauen wieviel man pendeln muss um 100€ Spritkosten/Monat zu haben. Aber das stimmt ja auch nicht, relevant für die Diskussion sind ja nur die *Mehrkosten*. Dein Post hat mich motiviert die Mehrkosten mal zu recherchieren. :)

Die Rechnung von Klingbeil funktioniert also nur für ~22% der Erwerbstätigen und auch nur unter der Annahme, dass die alle Verbrenner und nicht zB Zug oder E-Auto fahren. Es ist also schon etwas extrem gerechnet, aber man kann natürlich argumentieren das vor allem diese Langpendler:innen diese Unterstützung brauchen (das ist meinem Verständnis nach Klingbeils Argument). [ich halte die Spritsteuersenkung für kompletten Unsinn und falsch, aber die Zahlen an sich, die er genannt hat sind denke ich schon vertretbar. Es *gibt* einen kleinen Teil der Pendler:innen deren Kosten tatsächlich so stark gestiegen sind]

@dentaku @drehumdiebolzen ich hab die Zahl auch gehört und mich gewundert. Er sagte aber nicht „Pendler sparen 100€/Monat“ sondern „wir helfen gerade Pendlern die […] 80, die 100€ pro Monat Mehrausgaben haben, dafür dass sie zur Arbeit kommen […]“ Er sagt also nicht, dass sie die 80-100€ Mehrkosten komplett ausgleichen, sondern dass der Rabatt Pendler:innen [natürlich nur Verbrennerpendler:innen] hilft und (implizit) dass das nötig sei weil diese eben so viel höhere Kosten [als vorher] haben. Wir können hier also die These überprüfen ob die Mehrkosten tatsächlich so hoch sind. Ich hab dazu mal die Dieselpreisentwicklung von Statista genommen: https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/224105/umfrage/durchschnittlicher-preis-fuer-diesel-kraftstoff/ Danach war der Dieselpreis am 17.2.26 bei 1,71€/l (über eine Woche vor dem Angriff von Israel und USA auf Iran). Letzte Woche lag we bei 2,44/l. Also 73Cent mehr. Um auf 80€ Mehrkosten zu kommen muss ein:e Pendler:in ~110l pro Monat verbrauchen. Bei 10l/100km wären das 1100km. Bei durchschnittlich 21 Arbeitstagen pro Monat sind das ~52km pro Arbeitstag oder 26km pro Richtung. Das klingt schon deutlich realistischer und ist auch gar nicht so weit weg von den durchschnittlichen 17,2km Pendelstrecke die @dieliebenessy hier erwähnt: https://fnordon.de/@dieliebenessy/116399227358508984 Wenn wir mit 5l/100km rechnen und auf 100€ Mehrkosten kommen müssten wären es schon 2720km/Monat oder 65km pro Richtung pro Arbeitstag. Im Umkehrschluss bedeutet das aber natürlich auch dass diese Beispielpendler:innen mit 110-137l Verbrauch pro Monat durch den Tankrabatt nur ~19€- 23€ pro Monat sparen. (Wenn es überhaupt weitergegeben würde) Aber die Rechnung funktioniert schon.

But then got skeptical because I‘d never heard of this outlet before and it seemed to have a lot of insight about how all of this was planned. That seemed unlikely, so I came back and looked at the comments and y‘all confirmed my suspicions and thus saved me time I would have wasted reading it.

@gvwilson@mastodon.social Wouldn‘t an „Iterator“ type fit that description? A couple of languages have those.

Swift has a few more types that go in that direction of „how it‘s used“ but often not on the same level of simplicity as in Sajaniemi‘s variable roles.

Here are some that I think go in that direction and that exist in Swift:

Sequence and Collection: protocols in Swift
~Copyable: a value that cannot be copied, so a move-only type: only one object can hold onto it at a time
Mutex: used to wrap other values in it, to prevent concurrent access/modification of the wrapped value in a concurrent program
actor: a keyword-level type in Swift. Used to protect state and then „act“ on it in a concurrency-safe manner. Some parallels to Mutex, but a lot more complexity around it. Ensures modifications to the state are serialized (instead of happening concurrently) but doesn‘t block like a Mutex.
the let keyword basically captures the „fixed value“ concept. However there are subtle differences between using it for value types and for reference types.
the Result type holds the result of a computation that may have gone wrong

RE: https://iosdev.space/@sanguish/116116806565276449 This is basically what I‘m afraid of whenever I see someone using genAI for accounting or anything else where correctness matters and people tell me „no, I checked the results, and they were good!“ @sanguish@iosdev.space initially thought the results were correct (but was rightfully skeptical). He had to do a full inventory by hand to find the many errors. The errors you expect from software or humans are not the ones genAI makes, so you won’t know to look for them. You have to do a full separate calculation and compare the final result. And you‘ll have to do it again each time to be sure, as the output isn’t deterministic. So at that point, what time does it save?

There were major omissions and a few hallucinations of things I never ordered. product numbers which were adjacent to the name were wrong. Some filaments I had never ordered were included, a couple were made up colors, and quite a few were missed when it went through the invoices. But the good news is that I went and did a hand inventory, so I now know which ones I’ve got, how many, their part number, and the hex colors (which I’ll stick into Fusion 360).
