Back in my 27 years in the domain business, I’ve seen DENIC manage to break .de zone publishing badly enough to take large numbers of domains offline on two occasions.
That’s a remarkably strong score in the “less reliable TLD” rankings.

@cstrotm I'm currently using it as part of a pool also containing PowerDNS and Knot. But the latest version doesn't seem fully stable.

This doesn’t seem to be a popular opinion here, but I actually like AI. What I mostly dislike is that all my information is sent to the cloud. So if the #Mozilla AI allows me to run my own AI locally, I’m all in favour.

@jpmens@mastodon.social @letoams@defcon.social Seems like 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 are only available on their GitHub: https://github.com/yadifa/yadifa

@jpmens@mastodon.social @resingm@infosec.exchange The only non-IT company I can think of using their .brand TLD: www.e.leclerc

@marick@mstdn.social as I understand the Dutch expression, the sheep actually need to go over the dam to be saved from drowning in a flood. So in contrast to the Lemmings, the sheep idiom has a happy ending. 😀

@GalbinusCaeli@spacey.space @bert_hubert@mastodon.nl Their DNS actually is not in AWS. But a registry also needs a reliable registration system and database and has many other secondary systems. Many of which have high availability expectations.

@GalbinusCaeli@spacey.space @bert_hubert@mastodon.nl the .be registry, like many ccTLDs, is run by an independent organisation, not by the government. For a small organisation, running your own cloud isn't so straightforward.

@marick@mstdn.social @joeposaurus@chaos.social @bert_hubert@mastodon.nl It’s actually based on a Dutch expression: “Once one sheep is over the dam, others will follow.” I knew while writing my toot that this expression didn’t exist in English, but I couldn’t find an English equivalent that worked—and the imagery of the Dutch expression was just too good not to use.

@LeoBistmans@mastodon.online @bert_hubert@mastodon.nl it should indeed not be rocket science. Most important probably is it being reliable and manageable. I hope they find a solution which is not just in EU, but also better (price or service) than AWS.

@jenstec@masto.nu They already open source some stuff (like https://github.com/DNSBelgium) I'll make sure to bugger them about also publishing info about their AWS exit-project!

@bert_hubert@mastodon.nl I think this can use some extra attention: The .be registry wants to leave AWS and has created an RFP with lots of details of what they need. I think this could be the first sheep over the dam. I hope you can bring extra attention to this and a precedent can be created. https://www.dnsbelgium.be/en/news/dns-belgium-leaves-aws
