I’ve stopped going to gay bars in favor of going to the super old school, very historical, somewhat famous counter culture bar in my town because at least at Bar B I’m just a witness to the fights. Whereas at the gay bar, Bar A, I’m likely to start fights.

I teach 2000 and 3000 level analytics classes that I truly believe contain knowledge that more people should have. And this way of thinking, which is how I was trained by my mentors, is something that half of academia thinks is right and the other half of academia is trying to shut down.

@ccshan@woof.group I’ll also add that as an adjunct, since people are talking about when individual class sites were a popular thing, I have a website where I just post all my materials because in addition to being a top Canvas hater, I’m also anti-McGrawHill textbook monopoly feeding us bad slide packs that we end up having to edit anyways to deliver any coherent information to our students.

@ccshan@woof.group years ago, some computer science friends of mine attempted to do their capstone project on designing an alternative LMS system to Canvas for our university. (The prototype of the program looked like a shitty early 2000s forum but it actually fit the vibes of our school…) Faculty loved it but the Provost eventually shut down their work lol.

I recently found out my IQ from finally getting my hands on my autism diagnosis and it’s a number in the range of “yeah being in academia has already reaffirmed for me that I am a genius and though I object to the use of IQ scores in most contexts, it was a nice little pick me up for a psychiatrist to classify me as a genius”.

I got banned from a gay bar archives group for this post and I thought maybe my audience here would enjoy it more. Also, I don’t think I got banned just for the post but the fact that it brought all of the leather dyke elders out of the woodwork to speak up in support of me called the admins out on their shit.

Moving more of my stuff out of my soon to be old apartment into my storage unit and it’s definitely freeing to be like “oh soon I can just not have to talk to my mom”. And re: my mental health rant last night, yeah I’m definitely looking for a new job while still apartment hunting because I don’t want to be a burden on the friend I’m going to live with for the next few months.

I just got this new job but I’m already thinking about leaving it because it’s just not my scene. But first I need to find a job to replace it with. I know it’s in bad taste to leave within the first three months, but I’m willing to risk have a demerit on my professional record since this new job is making me so fucking miserable.
