@dfgomes@mastodon.social You can quote scripture all day, but publicly framing LGBTQ people as corrupting something sacred is still a form of judgment, whether you intend it that way or not. Jesus spoke repeatedly about humility, mercy, and loving others: “Judge not, that you be not judged,” and “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” The point wasn’t that only some people are sinners, it was that none of us are in a position to treat others with self-righteous moral superiority.

@dfgomes@mastodon.social You’re entitled to your interpretation of scripture, but Christ’s teachings centered far more on compassion, humility, and loving others than on condemning people. A rainbow symbol used by LGBTQ people doesn’t erase its biblical meaning any more than wedding rings erase earlier cultural meanings. The rainbow has had many meanings across cultures and history long before modern LGBTQ symbolism. Nobody "stole" it. Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1)“Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31)Jesus spending time with people society condemned rather than treating them as enemies. According to the Bible, all people are sinners, so none of us gets to claim moral superiority over others. But by all means, tell us you haven't actually read the Bible without telling us.

@benroyce @skeletor i too also consider the quality of my enemies (or lack thereof) (i don't really consider anyone my enemy, that would mean they'd live rent-free in my head - not in this economy!. i don't think about them - so let's go with "people who think i'm their enemy") people who don't understand me (their problem, when they can ask and they don't, that's wilful ignorance)people who i've pissed off intentionally (well those probably had it coming),etc.there's also "people who've pissed me off intentionally". (i was worried that acknowledging it might make me sound narcissistic, it’s just a reality check; the list is very short) if that group is composed of people who i'd never want to be friends with, i'd say i'm doing pretty good :)
