Still going to support the effort here, even if I don't post too much.

Just cracked 100miles in my electric scooter. I use this guy to commute to work via the MARC train. It gets to and from Union Station faster than the metro, and it's a lot more fun. I also use it to do errands around town in Baltimore.

I definitely recommend getting one if anyone is on the fence. It is a game changer for short trips, and makes so much more feel so much closer and easier to get to.

Typical NIMBY behavior by one of the worlds riches men, who might live in a small house, but wants the status quo for everyone. He's also suppose to be a progressive thinker on climate change...

The that should be shouted from the rooftops is that the system is like $300M for multiple lines. At the same time, Nebraska is pending $15Billion on highways. This is cheap investment.

The first day of classes at #gwu went great, but I'm totally spent! Been on teaching leave last semester, so I forgot how much energy it takes to really give a good lecture. I think it went well, but we will see how many of the students show up on Thursday for the second lecture...

PhD app season may have hit it's climax yesterday with many schools' deadlines of 12/15, but #gwu deadline is 1/15... There's still time to apply!!!

So, if you're interested in usable security and privacy, consider applying to be a part of the @gwusec@infosec.exchange lab. I'm planning to admit a new cohort of students into funded positions.

Next, Xiaoyuan (Owen) Wu will be speaking about our research on five-word passwords. These are passwords that are really passphrases consisting of five random words concatenated with '.'

We ran a study to see if users can remember these passwords and their thought, as well as comparing different selection schemes. Also, this is a real system in use at Georgetown University.

First up is Rahel talking about our research on users of "SmartDNS" who use these services to change their DNS provider to get around geoblocking by proxying through a middlebox...

Essentially, want to stream SheHulk out of market? With SmatDNS, when you do a DNS lookup for Disney+, you get a proxy in the geographic region. The research question we ask ... Who uses these services? Do they understand the privacy risks? Do they care? And what is their threat model.
