@SteffoSpieler@fellies.social Ah, the IPv6 makes Thread a bit tricky to keep stable. I gave up on it on the few things I tried (Sonoff presence sensors), went back to Zigbee ones instead.

@SteffoSpieler@fellies.social I went from a Homey Pro to HSH/Bridge. I run HSH on a Mac Mini M1 and it's been super-stable and very fast. The Mini was running anyway as Time Machine for my Macs, and uses about the same power as the Homey Pro. The Homey Pro was OK, but mine ran very hot, and I'm always worried about the eMMC on the CM4 wearing out. Interestingly, the Homey Bridge is just an ESP32 device in a fancy box, just as the Pro is a CM4 in one.

@ironicbadger@techhub.social Yeah, I needed something more stable as I’m going on to shift work, so stuff needs to work when I’m not there to fix it. The WAF is incredibly important, and the WDNA Home Assistant.

@ironicbadger@techhub.social It’s unusable for Joe Public, software that changes so much so often for no good reason is just bad. I ran it for a few years, and found that even with my relatively simple setup, it would need a few hours a month of faffing to get it working again after an update. End up, I gave up on it and migrated to Homey Self Hosted Server. It just works. It did everything I used HA for. It doesn’t blow up monthly. Wife has forgotten it exists, because stuff just does what it should. I run Homey SHS on a Mac Mini M2, with a Homey Bridge doing the Zigbee and Z-Wave.

@ernestdeleon Surprisingly, I was able to get an EV that isn’t connected to anything - no mobile connection, and the only WiFi on it is for wireless CarPlay/Android Auto. Car doesn’t even have satnav. It’s brilliant. It’s a base model Kia Niro.

@actualham The struggle is real. 2 years in the e-learning team broke me, just waiting a transfer to a different department to get away from it. 😆

@actualham As someone who develops and supports e-learning, I can tell you that ALL the software available to produce and then host it is terrible. In ours, depending on which software was used to create the SCORM you either must use Edge for some and Chrome for others. It’s a total nightmare.

@david @ryanpoolos @siracusa Anyone who wants to do anything on the internet? I mean, Safari kinda sucks for a lot of stuff, and just plain doesn’t work on quite a few sites.
