@oddhack @nazokiyoubinbou @Daojoan It’s probably at least partially because that makes for a very easy setting for RPGs: a dying empire allows for a highly interconnected, yet diverse world that can have common languages, tools, and trade, yet the power vacuum means you can have enemy factions/big bads rampaging that the party can deal with, and it’s an easy tie-in to something deeper (“by the Gods! So this is who REALLY killed the Emperor!”, etc).

@emilymbender What’s sad is that I think the root issue is the constant anxiety associated with social media and being read in bad/confused faith, and rather than lean into the “social” aspect of SM and just continue conversations with those that treat you like a person while accepting that flawed human beings will misread you or you’ll misspeak/be wrong but within the tension lies growth, this guy wants the final cheat code to get out of experiencing social disapproval.

@johnefrancis @trouble @kelidanovus Yeah, I didn’t think you would fully charge a car with bike power, but a stationary bike mount that you use 5 times a week for one hour is great for exercising when the roads/conditions are unsafe for outdoor biking, and if you aren’t using renewable energy like solar or wind to power your home, switching some of that drain to caloric power can help.

What I need is a bike stand that can power a battery that I can use to charge my car. Not nearly as efficient as just biking places or using public transportation, but when that’s not feasible this would be a nice alternative.

@woozle @oddhack I remember when it was enough to just “-[site.address]” to get rid of results from sites you had no interest in clogging up your search, but now with LLM output masquerading as real stuff, it’s just filled to the brim with bullshit.

I hate being the kinda person who runs to social media to find out previously-easily googleable stuff because I’m no longer sure of sites that I haven’t used before and/or have not recently been endorsed by a human.
