@NanoRaptor@bitbang.social not sure if it’s important or even a contribution to internet culture, but I designed a PCB board for a 30-pin SIMM and published it to the hub for gits, and multiple people have either forked the design and improved it or been inspired by it to design their own.

@monkeyninja@10base2.dev they usually also come with an excellent warranty (if you buy them new), and are very repairable. We had backlight issues with some of the digital signage TVs at work, and it literally takes 2 minutes to replace the backlight. They even send a technician out to do the replacement onsite.

@raphaelmorgan@disabled.social @eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place I don’t think the fines should be on a sliding scale, they should be on a hyperbolic scale! If they fined them a million last time, make it a billion, then 500 billion, then a trillion. It’s about sending a message to shareholders, their money will be burnt if they continue to support the business. Simply shutting them down could set a dangerous precedent, as it could be used to shutdown businesses/organisations that do good.

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social but they increased the price for aviation customers from $65/month to $250 and decreased the allowance to 20GB. That’s over 3.5x shareholder value! And if you want to go >300MPH, it’s $1,000. That’s >15x! Line go up means they should be allowed to dump as much metal into the atmosphere, no matter what unknown consequences might occur.

@hackaday@hackaday.social American B type C is so flexible, you can pick up a random cable and it might support 10G, 480M, or even charging only at low current, and there’s no way of knowing just looking at it if it’s not labelled.

@nini @rgbunny @davidrevoy exactly. RAM, GPUs, SSDs, HDDs, they’re all available, they just jacked up the prices in anticipation of a shortage that may never eventuate. That means fewer people are buying them, so they’ll end up with a glut of hardware once the bubble bursts, and a market that’s used to holding onto their old hardware or finding a second hand deal instead of buying new.

@fluidlogic the first computer I remember we had was an Apple II, but I don’t remember using it much since I was very young. The next computer we had was an IBM JX, which I definitely used quite a lot. It was the Japanese version of the PCjr, basically a low-end 16-bit machine.

She came to me, big girlfriend strong girlfriend, tears streaming down her face, said it was impossible to get 10 billion boosts, but we did it. The most boosts ever. You’ve never seen more. We got more than Biden, more than Obama, and we’ll beat Obama again. You just need to boost this once, and you’ll never have to boost again.
