@spiegelmama@infosec.exchange Thank you kindly. The trouble is, my person is autistic and isn’t able to appreciate my perspective. So I ride a roller coaster, absorbing the ‘lurches’, understanding their inability to see things through my lens. (And yes, I know the world is set up for neurotypicals and that their life hard.) It’s just I have these dips when I feel I can’t ride the roller coaster anymore. I suppose it’s because I feel trapped. Sorry for the whinging.

Some days this whole #caring thing is such a struggle. I’m bad at letting things ‘wash over’ me, even though I know the person for whom I #care can’t help but… [insert whatever petty, trivial issue has ruffled my feathers today]. I know I’m ‘cutting my nose off to spite my face’ at times. But the inner battle is so ferocious… I hate that I’m trapped and yet know that I could and should make better choices which would alleviate the situation. These choices are muddled by misplaced guilt and the desire to smooth my person’s path… I’m hopeless at ‘balance’, always have been… had a terrible work life balance. And now this… Sorry for garbled post. Emotions all over the place… Happy Monday everyone!

When I was first diagnosed, ILO was known as Involuntary Laryngeal Obstruction. It now seems to be referred to as ‘Inducable’. “ILO happens when the vocal cords close when they should be open for breathing, creating a narrowing (obstruction) in the upper airway, at the level of the throat. ILO breathing is often noisy, and often misdiagnosed as asthma.” It’s terrifying when it happens and it’s difficult not to panic. Mine began following surgery to remove my thyroid (cancer). Apparently throat surgery is commonly the insult that results in ILO. To make matters worse, damage to my right superior laryngeal nerve means my larynx is permanently half closed, meaning there’s physically half the space for me to draw in air anyway. My triggers are mainly cold, humidity and exercise (sadly no more running for me). But the recent weather has been a new trial. @MarkHoltom@mastodonapp.uk There’s a ‘Thankful Village’ in #Northumberland not too far from where I live. Frustratingly I can’t remember the name just now. I say ‘village’ but it’s tiny, more of a hamlet though it does have a church.

@hellomiakoda 👏🏻 I've always used a similar narrative to encourage my child to see everyone's contribution as equal and not to 'look down' on anyone as 'less than' because of their role. (I felt this was especially necessary as they grew up in an area full of... from my perspective at least... professionals breeding entitled children.) Gosh, I'm incredibly judgy and grumpy tonight... I guess I should stop posting and get to bed!
