I was curious about ​:threads:​ Threads (as compared to ​:X_twitter:​ and ​:bluesky:​ Bluesky) but I deleted my Facebook account years ago and want nothing with them. Thankfully others have made the sacrifice and I'll leave you with great insight from a quote from @matdevdug@c.im:

"Threads was worthless because it’s the most boring social media website ever imagined. It’s a social media network designed by brands for brands, like if someone made a cable channel that was just advertisements and meta commentary about the advertisements you just saw. That is not a great analogy. Even though I was informed by multiple people on a recent similar post that Defibrillators only reset the heart of a person experiencing cardiac arrhythmia meaning that is not a true revival. That it helps prevent a person from dying; not bringing a dead person back to life. That is a modern medical understanding and perspective.
But let me ask you: If you had a cardiac arrest before the 1950s, what were the chances of being revived? If not cero, close to it.
Before modern medicine, cardiac arrest was viewed as an irreversible process. CPR and defibrillation blurred the lines of what was considered “death.” It became possible to “bring back” individuals who had seemingly met the traditional definition of being past the point of revival. Modern medicine redefined death. So technically, 18th c. people who believed that were right.
In fact, nowadays anyone that experience a cardiac arrest and does not get CPR or defibrillation, you're essentially dead the moment it started.
And that is why from that perspective, electricity does revive the dead.

@Overgoddess@bardicperspiration.club I understand, this is the kind of problem that you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. If the removal of Spam accounts becomes much easier, then dealing with the harassers would be too because the mods won't be as occupied as before. I seriously doubt a "vibe check" would stop committed trolls & harrasers and the more you harden the "vibe check", what will it become? An exclusive instance. People would be stopped at the door not because they are harrasers or trolls but because they think differently or have different values.

@Overgoddess@bardicperspiration.club That make sense for instances made for small to medium communities but if there is no big instances with open registration, I fear that will eventually result in the death of the Fediverse as a whole. As the saying goes "We cannot have the cake and eat it too". I see the tedious work of moderating and regular cleanups as the price to pay for accessibility and growth. Instead I believe a focus on optimizing and improving the process of identifying and removing the spam accounts is a better approach to the problem.
