I know it is kind of stupid to get somewhat emotional about I, but I am kind of gooy in the eyes right now. I use to be one of those who was totally against AI. I swore I'd never use it for anything.
@pooch754@dragonscave.space started using it a lot more a year or so ago. As I watched him using it to do diferent things, my curiocity was peeked. Over time, he has showed me so many things that I can do with it. I've gotten to the point where I can learn things without asking him. I had downloaded fastplay earlier this evening, and I wanted to set it as my default player. He's in the bedroom taking his meds. I know I could have waited for him to come in the living room, and I could have asked him. I wanted to see if I could follow instructions that an AI gave me, so I gave it a try. I told google gemini what I was trying to do, and I also told it that I'm using jaws. It gave me simple directions that were easy to understand. I followed them, and was able to set fastplay the way I wanted it. I know to some people, doing stuff like this is so basic, and the way of doing it is so obvious. For me, who really just started learning how to use a computer when I moved to Illinois, figuring this kind of stuff out is always still so exciting for me. I understand that AI can get things wrong. I know that sometimes I'm still going to have to ask someone to help me understand something, or get right what the AI got wrong. But when it gets things right, it really is cool what you can do with it.
