I have given in and made a bluesky account, but I am not sure I can handle social media anymore.
It just burns me out so bad and feels like it enlarges negativity. It is also why I tend to disappear from here for months, I check a few days and then read some sort of conflict and just stop checking

NextFest day 1 (sort of):
The "hex-based ecosystem puzzle" genre seems to be really popular right now.
I thought both Preserve and Nekokami were fun, beautiful and well-done.
I am slightly more into Preserve bc I am a Terra Nil fan, while Nekokami gave me more Carcassonne vibes, and I am way more into rebuilding wildlife habitats than I am humankind, but ppl who want story with their relaxing Dorfromantic-type game would love Nekokami.
Both demos highly recced
Dungeons and Degenerates Gamblers seem to be shaping up to be a worthy Balatro challenger, while I thought Dungeon Clawler had promise, but needs to work on its physics
The farmingsim demos - sigh. I understand that NextFest is a huge promotional opportunity and devs feel they have to participate, but I believe several of these early demos do more harm than good. Especially in such a saturated genre. There's more and more just short, empty, buggy demos

It is summer steam next fest and I am playing loads of demos again (downloaded like 30 tonight) 🎮
From wholesome, women led games, guerrilla and more I played and would recc these demos:
Caravan SandWitch - rather confusing name for a sci-fi "hopefulpunk" exploration game, but it is absolutely beautiful, the characters neat, and the platforming is easy enough I can do it, which is very, very seldom (I fail at Spiritfarer)
On Your Tail - Investigative small town jewel, oozing with charm
Times & Galaxy - I played the closed beta playtest of this and loved it - sci-fi investigative journalist game with loads of cool characters and good writing
Tentative recc (I am very difficult about comedic games so it doesn't work for me, but worth trying):
Albert Wilde: Quantum P.I - the noirest of noir
Also wanna give a shout out the Phoenix Springs and Rooster - no demo but looks amazing!

Just got confirmation from the vet that Anni has kidney disease 😢
I was expecting it to show up at some point in her life bc she refuses to drink enough and finds running water spooky, but I didn't want it to happen this early 😔
Gonna have to do some real Internet sluthing to find renal/kindney food that is a mousse or pate and easily digestable so that she'll actually eat it
(no teeth, she doesn't eat anything with bits unless it's dry food something she can't really have bc of her chronic digestion issues)

Does anyone know of a (free or cheap) software that can convert handwritten text from pictures to computer written?
I have a few notebooks I wrote in erasable ink I'd like to convert before the ink fades away completely, and I'd like an easier way than meticously rewriting it on the pc

I guess my current hyperfixation on one-man army movies is finally making me watch Seagal.
I have watched most of the big action guys (Lundgren, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jackie Chan, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, etc) some more than others - Van Damme movies used to run on TV super late at night so I've seen almost all of his, and while I don't really like Stallone, I do enjoy several of his movies despite him (Demolition man!!)
But I don't think I've seen a single Seagal movie period 🤔

Can we talk about how queer Tango & Cash is?
Tango makes so many gay jokes about himself, he's coded pretty queer with the fancy suits and glasses and general demeanour, and Cash implies he was a section 8
While the drag scene with Cash is surprisingly unoffensively played for an 80s movie, the main joke being the police guy is a bastard for trying to get a threesome with lesbians
