All things come to an end.

I'm growing allergic to rhetoric. Even when I agree with it.

@lapt0r@infosec.exchange The "for the children" bit is so full of crap that you're obligated to hit them a _lot_.

@nuintari I think it's _only_ appropriate when there's another person next to you that is involved in the call. Being on the other end of speakerphone is also shite.

@kottke There was a time when +asearchterm made it mandatory. Google killed that syntax so hard that other search engines dropped it. I miss that time.

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange There's "we should be graceful and forgive" and then there's "I can't trust anyone who _ever_ thought this would be okay." Git fucked.

@bhhaskin@social.bitsofsimplicity.com @carlrichell@fosstodon.org I think the EU has a software liability approach that could be used as an (just one) example. If you're not making money with it, you're okay. Paraphrased poorly. It feels like the idea is that profit motives need to come with more responsibility. Maybe that can be adapted.

@SecurityWriter@infosec.exchange America needs a GPDR. Because I believe I've heard of advertising companies using this crap near billboards.

@skinnylatte Are there white papers or things you'd recommend? For profit caveat. :/ I regularly talk to someone in veterinary med that's dealing with top down AI push and other doctors creating inaccurate notes from AI. The incentives there are all out of whack since the majority of doctors don't do notes at all. And then extend that to AI for blood work and cytology.

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange I'm an optimist. Sometimes they believe what they say and then are fired. Or they just become a different person. A person that wants money more.

@stib@aus.social A coworker, who does desktop support for Windows users and isn't a Linux person at all, installed Bazite out of the blue and is raving about it. I was able to install a AAA title to play with some friends and it literally just worked. Zero issues. I'm so used to occasionally booting into Windows over the past couple of decades -- now I'm just confused. I wasn't prepared at all for gaming and CAD to be fully functional.

@FreeCAD Finished a project in this #FreecadFriday : A Moore style chair edge finder. I didn't hit the +/- 25 millionths of an inch tolerances, but I think that's okay....

@zak@infosec.exchange Coworker, who came from desktop support and only really knows Windows, slapped Bazite on his personal desktop because it's better for gaming than Windows. He also raves about things like KDE's display configurator.

This is both amazing and such a strange thing to hear.

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place I read somewhere that the Discord CEO is constantly worried about enshittification. I don't even care. I hate that the knowledge shared in Discord is all locked behind logins and can't be discovered. It started out flawed.

@thomasareed@infosec.exchange It's true; a cloud that you quickly create will distract and frustrate the cybersecurity. Remember, surprise is your weapon. Don't invite the cybersecurity when you're figuring out how to create the cybearsecurity spray cloud.
