@erin@mstdn.ca a key issue emerging in Mastodon moderation is what is known as digressive victimhood. This is when a member of a dominant group claims victimhood. E.g. the episode on .social when an Asian person who reads only non-white authors was reported for being "racist" is a perfect example. This is complex to moderate, but including the term and a definition might help mstdn.ca be clear that it's not tolerated and also be a welcome signal to all members.

@AuntieAlias@mstdn.ca @erin@mstdn.ca agree with specifically stating anti-Semitism, also ableism is worthy of inclusion in this list. Also we could state that the preference is for #CamelCaseText and alt text in photos to promote inclusion.

@erin@mstdn.ca finally, I don't know if this is possible but

1. Can we allow community flagging re a concern about emerging issue as an alternative to reporting for a breach of rules? It helps with the grey areas.

1. Try to be clear about acceptable & promote positive behaviors.
2. Include instructions like “be respectful”, and specific education like, “avoid CAPS LOCK”.
3. Be clear re sanctions for breaching guidelines
4. Explain moderation protocols /timelines so ppl know what to expect.
