@iagox86@infosec.exchange I don't know why but my mind can't stop thinking about that there is a service called AWS GreenGrass. And it runs lambda function locally and sometimes on cloud. Why do this. Why write a lamda function for AWS when you can just run the code.

@noboilerplate@namtao.com There's multiple companies working on *part* of AI stack. Some aiming for inference other aiming for training, etc. Interestingly, these are not your normal ASIC as they are programmable (so close to GPU). Ian talked about this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBmP_dtVR3M&t=254s

@algernon @mgorny I’m guessing that most of the traffic for git.gentoo.org would be by tools on behalf of users. And not through browsers. Anyway, great article. I’m thinking about implementing the same on my site.

@Mark_Harbinger@mastodon.social @cy @ajroach42@retro.social Nobody arguing for unfettered access. It's how it's been restricted. With age restrictions law power goes to the government and companies. And not to the parents. We should we arguing for better parental controls and more importantly better moderation. So we can make internet safe for everyone not just for kids!

@tripleman @Lana Also, US: we want regime change. We want to install someone (pointing) that is partial to us. Israel: bomb/assassinate someone. US: how about this one, this way we have stability. Israel: *streaming bomb* nope~ PS: it’s because Israel stated goal is instability of the region so they can’t be a problem in future. That’s where people will rise up rhetoric comes from because that was their goal (Civil war) but it didn’t happen and here we are.

@thomas yeah, I know obsidian sync is great but I just don’t want to have my notes on cloud. And I will have to change tiers at some point with them too.

@thomas my main gripe with it is that iCloud can and will sync in background. Why can’t someone else design something that can do the same.

Alternatively, I could cave and buy a Mac just for the iCloud synchronization (and the inevitable subscription fees once I exceed the free tier). Ps. Sorry for the rant! It’s been a frustrating day. I hope your day is blissfully free of computer trouble.

@thomas It’s also not about customisation. For example; I maintain a journal in obsidian that is sync to all of my devices through Syncthing. It doesn’t work that way on iOS. As it doesn’t allow background process and Syncthing maintainers don’t want to deal with it. (Understandable) The only real way to synchronise anything is using iCloud which doesn’t work on Linux (afaik) so you would be shut out of luck. Thankfully, somebody made SyncTrain which gives me 65% there with only drawback that I have to open the app from time to time so it can ask ios for background task.

@thomas @soapdog As someone who migrated from android to ios (bad timing, but I got bored of android) There’s clumsiness in every operating system but on open ones I have way more option/control to deal with them.

@dotstdy @eevee @glyph The one thing I like about Firefox is that they actually push for changes in Web APIs. They have taken positions against implementing certain APIs (WebUSB and File System API are the ones that directly affect me) that can be used in privacy-invasive ways. (https://mozilla.github.io/standards-positions/) They can do that because they have an independent engine—something no Chromium fork (no matter how privacy-focused they are) has or will take a stand on. Of course, it doesn't matter because, they don't have the market share to push against it. BTW, Firefox nightly on Android has the best UI/UX of all browser in IMO.
