@nimgimli@gamepad.club mmmhm. Part of the reason I stopped the first time is that I didn’t care about ANYTHING at 40mg. I was a lump. At 10mg? I am calmer, little things don’t spin me out, and I can actually relax. Feels like my sweet spot.

@nimgimli@gamepad.club I'm currently in the opposite position. I stopped taking mine about a decade ago, and while I could handle life without them? Everything feels so much more manageable WITH them. Knowing I can stop with little ill effect makes me feel better about using the crutch right now. (I am on the lowest dose, which also helps.)

When you blog for long enough, especially when you participate in community events and the prompts that show up in them, it's really only a matter of time before you start repeating yourself. I tried not to do that. I probably wasn't successful. Mixtape Monday - A Warm Hug (Krikket's Musical Pep Talk) I've been wanting to snag this idea from Belghast for months, and now I feel like even though I waited too long for him to appreciate it, that I'd like to carry on the tradition. I might not be as meticulous as he was, but I hope these songs will connect with someone (and maybe point them back to his vastly superior mix tapes!) #Blaugust2026 #MixtapeMonday http://nerdgirlthoughts.game.blog/2026/08/03/mixtape-monday-a-warm-hug-krikkets-musical-pep-talk/

I am forever shopping for enamel pins to turn into needle minders, and I just stumbled across one that said "Stop giving CPR to dead situations." and hooboy did that feel like a punch in the face.

I would like to start by saying I *hate* that this works...

...but the lighter I make my "must do" list on a given day? The more I get done. If I put all the things on a must do list, I would get overwhelmed and do none of it. But when I keep the list light? All of a sudden it doesn't seem like a big deal to squeeze in a few of those "would really like to get done" items.

WHY IS MY BRAIN LIKE THIS?!?

The only thing I don’t like about my room is the challenge of clothes storage.

I bought this rack for another room, but I think it’s going to live right here. Yes, I know it blocks the door, but I don’t use that door anyway.

However, that playthrough got derailed when a friend bought me a copy of Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library. I did a full playthrough without even unlocking the major magic spells, just slowly, methodically, manually shelving over 3000 books. It was compulsively satisfying.

I then restarted to do a magic run, and found it kind of blah.

The first run took almost 17 hours. The second, just over 2.

It's my day off, it's supposed to be over 90 today, and I'm all hormonal and a little bit sad.

Sounds like the perfect recipe for a self-care day, and giving myself permission to forgo doing *anything* productive.

We talked for about three hours last night. I said a lot of things I needed to, he said a lot of things that made me feel better. It's not all resolved - I didn't expect it to be - but we're both committed to continuing to work on it.

Two very damaged humans trying their best for each other maybe isn't the ideal, but I am so very grateful.

@MsHearthWitch@wandering.shop Oof, I identify with this so strongly. My ex just sucked every drop of life out of me, and I had no energy for anything. I'm not *quite* where you are - getting there slowly - but I keep being surprised by how much I remember this person I was 15 years ago, and how much I've missed her.

I really hate when my nice logical brain is telling me one thing, and yet? Something is pushing my emotional panic button.

While I do understand that it's important to listen to your feelings because the brain is excellent at rationalizing? I also know I am also excellent at catastrophizing minor inconveniences, and this feels more like that then an actual indication of a real problem.

(For the record? I'm not even remotely trying to "do keto" but I find a lot of keto recipes are a good starting point for just cutting back on carbs. Obviously, if you cannot tolerate any artificial sweeteners, this is way harder, but I am lucky enough to be good with all of them.) In other sweet treats, I made some mocha mousse (sugar free chocolate pudding mix, heavy cream, espresso powder) which is pretty good, and a coconut porridge which I think would have been pretty good if I left out the nutmeg - I don't know why I didn't I *know* I don't like nutmeg. Again, these things aren't low calorie, but weight loss is a side effect of all this, not my primary goal. https://lowcarbyum.com/coconut-low-carb-porridge-instant-pot/ #WeightLoss #Food #UnfuckingMyA1C

In things that don't sound like they should work, but are actually pretty good? This no-oatmeal overnight oats.

I just made my second batch, subbing coconut milk (the kind you get in the dairy section, not the kind in the can) for the almond milk, and adding some cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger to get a bit of a Chai spice thing going on.

I also use Spelda brown sugar as my sweetener, so it's not quite as low-carb as the nutrition information shows, but man, it's good, even if the texture is a little weird.

When I first started exercising regularly? I expected to be sore a lot. I was doing things I hadn't done in years, and in some cases, never done. Obviously, there was going to be some discomfort in that.

Now, almost 6 months in? I'm over it. I'm sick of my muscles grumbling at me day after day. Now more than ever, I don't understand fitness people. I'm fairly certain I have yet to experience an endorphin, and every day is a game of "which muscle group is going to complain the loudest today?"

This too will pass, but damn if it isn't frustrating to not enjoy the process, the results, or the side effects.

Today is going to be an attempt at balance. I have things I need to get done, things I want to get done, and things I really need to do to keep myself sane.

Normally, I like to front-load my productivity so that I have a shot at my brain letting me relax, but we're going to attempt some alternating today and see how it feels.

It's a good day for it, because I think there's only a couple of things that are *really* critical, and everything else is balls that won't break if they get dropped.

I just couldn't deal with clearing snow today while it was still happening, and I took a snow day from work. Probably should have pushed myself to go in, because holy hell, have I been mopey today.

Part of it was that the weather stuff meant the tentative plans I had tonight didn't happen, but I suspect they wouldn't have anyway. Part of it is just the weather - I'm so tired of things being delayed or put on hold because winter be wintering.

Part of it is that I'm just overwhelmed and exhausted and struggling, and I'm not quite sure how to get back on top of things.

Now, I - theoretically - should be able to juggle all the things, so it's harder. Because before, there were things that just weren't getting done, and I had accepted that. I miss my blog. I miss just getting sucked into a game world for a few hours. & I know I'm flirting with burn out because I just won't give myself space for downtime that actually reinvigorates me, but I haven't figured out how to make it work just yet.

@mdiskplaylist@mastodon.social There are a handful of things I know i can do even in a tiny window of time, but especially with gaming, it's hard for me to even launch a game unless I think I have at least an hour or two to devote to it. Right now, that's compounded by feeling guilty about all the things I am not staying on top of, but I am also painfully aware of how much time I waste just zoned out and not actually doing anything at all. I guess I was hoping someone had a magic trick solution, but we're all just doing the same things and hoping for the best outcomes. <3

I usually have a list of movies & TV shows I've been meaning to watch, games I'm excited to play, and then a general one of "these are fun things I like". Right now, I'm having a problem with making enough time to feel like it's worth even starting something, which is related but I'm definitely having a harder time solving.

Right now, my schedule has me committed to something at 10a 5 or 6 days per week, and most days I’m not even getting through my preferred morning routine by then! Okay Fedi friends, I have an important question for you.

If you are a person with hobbies who likes to set aside a block of time for yourself every now and again to enjoy said hobbies, how the heck do you enforce that for yourself?

Plans with other people? Sure, I'll be there. Something that needs to get done? Most of the time I'm on it. Heck, I've even mostly gotten on top of taking care of myself physically even when I don't feel like it.

But when it comes time to take care of myself mentally? To actually buckle down and have fun on my own? No. I apparently have forgotten how to do that. I can make a date with myself, sure, but I can't make myself *keep* it. There's always a distraction of everything and nothing and then the window of time I'd set aside for myself has disappeared.
