Project 1789

I bought a cheap record player a few weeks ago to play some old #vinyl LPs.
I didn't expect the strangely liberating feeling that no #corporation knew what I was playing or when & had no way of logging the information on my account to sell advertising at me. Not edited, remastered or autotuned to soulless 'perfection' either.
Just me & my music. Alone with no other lurkers.
I'll still use streaming to listen to random stuff but my collection music is vinyl now.

1972 was the top of humanity's bell curve.
If you wrote a letter from then it would sound like it came from the distant future.
Riding dune buggies on the moon.
Passenger planes at twice the speed of sound.
Great music with a great diversity of players & everyone only noticed the music.
No social media. No AI or Auto tune. No celebrities famous for being famous.
All movies were originals.
No embarassingly infantile superheros or franchise BS except JamesBond.
As you say, it was far from perfect.

@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place There's an old joke. This software requires windows10 or better. So I installed Linux. Not to be that guy but since I left my career as a draftsman in 2000 which required AutoCAD I switched to Linux & haven't even been tempted to go back. This was 25 years ago when windows would spontaneously stop & reboot. It was a bloated magnet for viruses & spyware & required constant & expensive upgrades. I'm sure Microsoft has fixed all those problems over the last 1/4 of a century.
