@HeatherMJ@mastodon.social @WCOW@beige.party My understanding was that Brian doesn't mind paying for George's new drone, because drones are a boring irrelevance to him; he objects to George buying sheep, because he doesn't want George to be a farmer, a role which should be reserved for people like Brian. (And I suppose he can tolerate the idea of Adam being a farmer if he follows rigidly in Brian's footsteps, but whenever Adam has an idea of his own that proves he doesn't belong with people like Brian.) #TheArchers

@WCOW@beige.party It struck me today that there was something very similar in Brian's brush-offs of Adam and (last time round) George. Both interactions started with a tempting promise ("I'm going to give you the farm/loadsamoney") only for Brian to withdraw the offer on learning their plans ("No, no, not if you're planning to change anything at all on my farm/buying sheep instead of drones!") #TheArchers

@suearcher @oliver_bear A friend of mine was on the shortlist for the trip that eventually went to Helen Sharman in 1991! I think she got to do some of the preliminary training at Star City in Moscow, and she was definitely interviewed on Woman's Hour, but in the end she didn't get the gig. It would have been so exciting knowing I had a friend Out There in the Sky!

@cassolotl I didn't know you could have induction hobs with knobs, but I've had one with touch controls since November 2018, and have been very happy with them.
