@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place so do i. what you're describing sounds a lot like the unix philosophy. (do one thing and do it well) i'm in the same boat as a lot of windows users rn. i want to switch to BSD, but i need linux for video games

@antranigv@sigin.fo imo all drivers should be open. To me it seems like BSD is to Linux what Linux is to Windows. BSD looks a lot cleaner from a technical standpoint. The only reason I don't run a proper BSD version on my desktop is because I need Linux to play videogames.

It's fun to try to replicate sounds. this is a clavichord (i think so at least. my digital piano has no display) layered with two guitar samples that have some eq and lfo. the guitars played through cheap old pc speakers and the clavichord through the internal speakers in my digital piano. i recorded it using my phone, and there is some unrelated noise in the background

@djlink@mastodon.gamedev.place interesting. i know later models replaced a lot of components with an SOC, earlier models have better audio because the DAC in early models was better than the one in the SOC. the video output on earlier models is slightly blurrier and the disc drives on the later models are more reliable. not sure if the SCPH-550X already used an SOC

@Kestenan@meow.social @roknrol@beige.party @ity@estradiol.city monospaced fonts tend to be easier to read. Especially ones designed for programming. Though Atkinson hyper legible is great as well. The dyslexia font just looks distracting imo
