Well, the nightmare scenario has arrived. Major injury, surgical intervention & multiday uncontrolled exposure of your partner in a hospital that has no respiratory precautions despite asking for accomodations. 😢 I have a molecular test system. What's the current view of isolation & testing regimes these days? I have focused so much on prevention I have lost touch with isolation & test best practices. I understand air management. 4 more air fanatas on the way. We have done this before. Just need advice on current testing regime. Used to do 3/5 days RAT then PCR clean out. Thanks. And special nonprintable words to a medical system that covers callous disregard of risk esp to seniors with "kindness". You can mitigate risk right up to the point where the system forces you to accept it. Then you can only mitigate the downstream consequences and start again. #COVIDcautious #covid

@dedicto@zeroes.ca kagi works by logging in per user for search using an email address & password for an account in a package on a device. I have the duo package for my wife and I, each with a seperate kagi login accounts. All our devices - laptops, desktops, tablets, ereaders, phones, etc we use have one of the accounts configured for search. I have not seen or heard of a device limit per login account as yet - I certaintly haven't hit one. They advertise unlimited search per account and no tracking.

@dedicto@zeroes.ca Yes, I use @kagihq@mastodon.social for all devices and recommend it. You can turn off all the AI "features" except the quick answer button on the main answers page which is easy to ignore. But I wish there was a switch to turn this off too. Yes you have to pay for it but that is better imo than "free" as in forced sponsored links, ads and slop.

RE: @EricCarroll@zeroes.ca

Second possible in-airplane airborne transmission.

> A KLM air stewardess has been hospitalised with hantavirus symptoms, according to the ministry of health. The woman was briefly in contact with one of the Dutch people that died after contracting the virus late last month.

Possible #airborne transmission of #hantavirus in an airplane.

Rat Virus Crisis Spreads to New Country

https://www.thedailybeast.com/hantavirus-crisis-spreads-to-france-as-new-case-recorded-in-french-national/

> The individual was apparently diagnosed with the rodent-borne virus after taking a flight alongside someone with the disease, marking the first confirmed infection in someone with no direct connection to the MV Hondius

Seperate article calls this a "contact case" not illness.

> A Frenchman was being monitored as a hantavirus "contact case" after he travelled on the same plane as a cruise ship passenger suffering from the respiratory disease, French authorities have said.

@augieray If you didn't do stats or risk management professionally, and had been denied, belittled, harmed, provably lied to and threatened for six years you might be excessively skeptical too. But it's still an inappropriate response. I've experienced it myself. And thanks for continuing.

Hospitals are dangerous places. Air purification would mitigate the risk. Too bad most infection control professionals have voted for job security over patient safety, as I recently experienced up close and personally.

This is by no means the first paper to make these points.

> Despite good air quality (mean CO2 614 ppm), 39% of air samples had SARS-CoV-2 RNA.

> Hot spots for risk in the emergency ward include the acute care and waiting area.

> In critical care, hot spots include the tearoom and corridors near infected rooms.

> The risk of nosocomial outbreaks may be mitigated through air purifiers and masks.

COVID-19 Infection and Coronary Plaque Progression: An Early Warning of a Potential Public Health Crisis

> Patients with COVID-19 infection had a higher risk of target lesion failure (10.4% vs 3.1%; adjusted hazard ratio, 2.90; P < .001) and major adverse cardiovascular events (20.1% vs 3.8%; adjusted hazard ratio, 4.8; P = .002) compared with those without infection.

I really despise how risky hospitals are for respiratory transmission today.

Its mitigatable right up to the point you have an issue that makes it not mitigatable.

Hospitals should not be a place of unmanaged risk resulting in health danger.
