@wimaalbers@mstdn.social oogmeting in het ziekenhuis vragen; mogelijk is er een reden dat oogmetingen bij de opticien geen betrouwbare uitslag geven. Mijn vrouw heeft hetzelfde; twee metingen achter elkaar bij dezelfde opticien kunnen al verschillende uitslagen geven.

@queen_fennec@mas.to heel herkenbaar. Tot een paar jaar geleden had mijn vrouw ernstige neuropathie door een niet herkend B12 tekort. De stap naar rollator en uiteindelijk een scootmobiel was gigantisch en voelde voor haar als ‘opgeven’ of ‘zwak zijn’. Het besef dat je er een stuk vrijheid voor terug krijgt komt pas achteraf.

@alyx well, in this specific case I believe he was more being ironic than deliberately sucking up. Was it wise for him to post it in the first place like this? Probably not as it’s not crystal clear how he meant it. Was it taken out of proportion? Probably. Did he make a mess of it afterwards? Definitely. Do I judge him on this one unlucky tweet about one of the very few sane things Trump did? Nope

@alyx @lucasth @webhat @chrishappy I think you need to read the article; he was only praising this specific choice to appoint Gail Slater, which was actually a) a good thing for FOSS and b) an extremely ironic choice from Trump. As the analysis (by a very anti-MAGA reporter) shows, there are no solid pointers that Andy agrees with any of the other things that Trump or his movement does; in fact, there’s a ton of solid evidence of the contrary. But don’t take my word for truth; just don’t only rely on Reddit trolls.

@ActNowOnClimate @UKnoGum @the_blackwell_ninja well, as the article points out, it’s designed *for* the rich. It basically sets the world up as one big, high stake, predator-prey setting with nothing in the middle. If you’re prey, you’re stuck. If you are a predator, you are almost untouchable. However, if you ever slip and fall in the wealth rift, there’s little chance on recovery. A totalitarian (or other inequality promoting) government is not strictly necessary for this system, but it sure helps

@UKnoGum @the_blackwell_ninja and it’s by design. In the early 20th century economists already concluded that unregulated capitalism is unsustainable. As they didn’t want to introduce ‘communist elements’ (like distribution of wealth) the concept of ‘austerity economics’ was created.
