@noelreports@mstdn.social I wish. Think most of us do. But I doubt it's going to go down that way. If Hitler had the bomb would he have used it in his last hours? Putin very well might. I'd say 50/50. The best way to deal with him would be to collapse half a mountain down on top of his private train in his private rail tunnels with him inside it. Somewhere good and deep so he couldn't get any radio signals out, where he'd suffocate before aid could dig down to where he was.

If you need to exaggerate or make emotive appeals because your actual case lacks merit, you don't have a case. It's a tool. Obviously it's not going anywhere. It's a very immature technology which is seeing rather irrational early adoption inappropriately but that's hardly it's fault. We can thank the last century of science fiction for wildly placing peoples expectations so badly.

Feeding it oxygen. Actively provoking you to make irrational decisions and make war among your fellows instead of alliances & coalition build. They've been doing it for quite a while, too. At least the last seven years that I know of. Further enhanced by the Russians actively efforts to trigger all grievance politics into full bloom.

Communism is an economic system in which the state exercises complete control over it's industry & economy. The state itself is the only employer. So what countries fit this? Cuba & North Korea.

Communism may be dead as disco, that doesn't change the underlying hegemonic competition that defined the real nature of the cold war. Russia has once again making a bid for the brass ring. Has been since 2014, really. China has tossed it's hat in, too. If you think the USA is bad, you'll be horrified after diving int their activities over the last hundred years.

@petervalkema@mastodon.social @davidho@mastodon.world They are showing results. This isn't like those con artists back in 2007 that took EVERYONE for a ride pocketing big bucks. We're seeing decarbonization occurring within industries, retrofits of existing process to reduce emissions and even turn the captured carbon into commercially useful products. One promising effort out of MIT actually found a way to make something even MORE energy dense than oil. Many are well past PoC and are working on scaling. :)

Our declared enemy, intent on killing or displacing the rest of us, has skillfully set the stage to exploit their fears. They’ve even been considerate enough to broadcast its changing flavor every week. When combined with nearly a decade of hypervigilance has accrued enormous self destructive potential just awaiting the rights triggers at the right moments. In War we'd call that a distinct strategic advantage.
