alors, vivre dans le noir pour éviter d'attirer les bestioles pendant que toutes les fenêtres sont ouvertes histoire d'espérer faire redescendre un peu la température pendant la nuit :

• ma nyctalopie ne s'améliore pas vraiment, je vois toujours pas grand chose
• par contre j'ai enfin compris l'intérêt du dark mode un peu partout, parce qu'effectivement un écran blanc ça fait SCHPOIINNNNGG quand ça apparaît soudainement quand il fait tout noir autour
• mais du coup, heu... est-ce que j'ai un environnement autour de mes écrans globalement plus lumineux que la moyenne ? (Notons que dehors, je sors rarement sans lunettes de soleil.) non parce que le dark mode, globalement, j'aime pas...

On a website on which content has been added very recently. (otherwise that'd be cheating a bit, I guess.)

In the non-directly-work-related conversations at #wmhack, @harmonia_amanda@eldritch.cafe talked to me about the amazingness that is @inventaire@mamot.fr. I had created an account a while ago but never used it - but now I'm back home, I've added my 108 cookbooks (and I still have a few to add manually due to a lack of ISBN - TIL Betty Bossi books don't have an ISBN!), I've remembered things about barcode readability (25+ years ago I did an internship in which one of the tasks was checking barcode readability - we had size templates and everything), and I did already add a couple of titles to the database (now I need to complete the data)

people going home from #wmhack can have a Rigi from the train, as a treat

on the way to the #wmhack hackathon i had a fairly bulky installation of cables between my laptop and my phone; on the way out i have a nice powerbank :D

well I'm pretty sure that's a record since I'm a Swiss citizen: the next voting package in city Zürich has 20 things to vote on (2 federal, 5 cantonal including questions that are in fact three questions because there's a counter and a deciding question, and the rest for the city)

that's going to require some time for the homework, I guess...

you know you're in Schengen Europe when: you're on a train, and you get stupidly annoyed by the border crossing due to the fact that the cellular network changes, and you were debugging stuff that did require an internet connection, and you have to wait for the phone to feel home again before you can continue working

Hey I forgot to post my #bgstats for April yesterday!
That was a good month, gaming-wise :)

First day of #wmhack was quite productive.
I have:

- pushed a patch to fix soccer uniforms being displayed in the wrong place https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T425056
- found the source of the issue of disappearing tables of contents for https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T425107
- made significant progress on the Wikitext REPL project I had as an objective for this hackathon (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T413372 - haven't pushed anything yet on that)
- participated to the Parsoid impromptu unconference session
- talked to many many people
- including a wonderful conversation about book ontologies the associated data

... and now I wonder why I'm tired :D

first time i actually type with the new laptop keyboard (it's usually on my desk with a keyboard attached to it).

i may or may not have uttered a "what the fuuuuck" when i realized that there was no right-Ctrl key (but there is a Copilot key, and also a fingerprint reader at the place where I really want the Ctrl key).
I also think I need to exchange left-Ctrl and Fn, because I'm not hitting Ctrl consistently.

now, how do i remap keyboards in sway/wayland... (this is a purely rhethorical question, i'll go read the doc :P)

really looking forward to it, but i really don't want to pack

that said, i did have a dream two nights ago that i was arriving in milano and had apparently not packed any change of clothes - that was not a very pleasant dream, so let's try to avoid making it prophetic :D

Had a 3-hour throwing wheel workshop this evening. Conclusions:
- I love the smell of clay
- I have clay everywhere
- centering a piece is hard
- still, I mostly managed to make the first few steps of "making a thing" work
- I however failed miserably at actually pulling the first few pieces I tried
- but hey, I still did get something that may be worth trimming when we do trimming
- it was vaguely frustrating at times but it was still awesome
- I'm tired
- I'm very much looking forward to next week
- the probability that I end up in a YouTube rabbit hole in the meantime is 1

THERE. I have installed a "focus mode"/"experimentation platform" laptop on Arch (I haven't run arch in... years, possibly a decade??); it boots with wifi, a half-configured Sway and the correct keyboard layout, and that's going to be good enough for today.

Bit of a fight to get it to boot (I don't know how computers boot anymore. I never really KNEW, but now I *really* don't know), but that's mostly on me - I had skipped the beginning of the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_boot_process page, which actually explained many things. The ArchLinux wiki is still *delightful*, and it's fantastic documentation - but one has to actually read it :D

I'm not holding my breath. Buuuut I could definitely get behind a Firefly animated series, it does look credible/reasonable, and it would be very cool if it happened, and I'll still hold some hope for the possibility it might :)
