@Extelec@mstdn.social I bought this print many years ago at a charity auction. It hangs in my office where my students can see it. It sparks a lot of conversations. My memory is that the artist was working as a public defender or some similar capacity in NYC.

@Extelec@mstdn.social The poor and wretched don't escape If they conspire the law to break This must be so but they endure Those who conspire to make the law The law locks up the man or woman Who steals the goose from off the common And geese will still a common lack Till they go and steal it back

It's raining One man has a million umbrellas, the people have none. It's raining The man commands the media to say how people are too lazy to will themselves dry these days. It's raining The government operates a sophisticated office of umbrella protection to reduce all the umbrella crime. They only patrol a large pile of umbrellas. It's raining Politicians promise umbrella manufacturing and all umbrellas will double! They keep their promise and the pile is doubled. It's raining

I thought I was a little under the weather from two vaccines this week. But maybe I'm tripping. Can anyone else see this or is it just me?!

@Extelec@mstdn.social Wow! This is from the dawn of capitalism in response to enclosure which is what we would now call privatization - and is in fact theft. That is just amazing.
