  They're not the xenon strobe lights or the slowly pulsating incandescent lights from my childhood, but these dancing LED tower lights seen across the bay in Maine have a charm all their own.

  Not that any of you knew my landlady, but her funeral is today, and I'm going to be livestreaming it on the TV station's YouTube at 1:00 ET using a couple of robotic cameras. It's going to be a very packed church.

  Welp, I was suddenly and without explanation refunded for the Sharp Organizer Modem I bought on eBay. And the others for sale cost more than I should spend for such a thing, so I guess I'll be holding off. Maybe someday.

  I'm declaring humidifier season officially over. I found new humidifier juice this season that is supposed to be better than the cheaper juice in the green bottle, and I think it did a better job - this wick isn't looking quite as gross as last year's.

  In other news, I just found out why one of the belts I installed in the Aiwa AD-F770 in 2012 may have snapped. I installed those belts based on faulty information, which I passed on in my 2012 video. The two belts are slightly different in length. The shorter belt goes around the two flywheels, and the longer belt goes around the capstan motor and take-up flywheel.   I tried Irn-Bru for the first time. I didn't know you could get it here, but they sell it right in the grocery store. I was half expecting it to taste like Moxie just because of the color, but it's unique, and it's good. Very sweet, but mild flavor.

  Ah yes, I forgot about this issue. This is separate from the Dolby buzz issue, which seems to have been fixed. I observed this happen once or twice last year before the other issues started. It's doing it with every cold power-on now. I've read that these are sensitive to weak capacitors in the power supply section, so I will replace the rest of them when I replace the belts, and hopefully that will solve whatever this is.

  Found on a VHS transfer job I'm doing. There is SO much to unpack in this 1987 clip: First of all, the CHSJ-TV ID is a physical sign with a camera pointed at it (edit: or maybe a film slide) - I approve. Second, that brief signal loss immediately following the ID wasn't an aberration or an issue with the tape recording - that was a normal part of the broadcast. CHSJ-TV was an independent station in Saint John which broadcast CBC programming transmitted to them from Fredericton...

  A supercut of CHSJ-TV's messy switching to and from CBC's feed (clips separated by dips-to-white). In the second clip, you can see they were late and briefly began showing the commercials CBC was running. In the third clip, they were late and cut off the news anchor. In the fourth clip I *think* they wouldn't have meant to show the CBC ID, hence the cut away before it completely finished. In the final clip, they cut off a line of dialogue on Maude.

  Does anybody have a Texas Instruments TI-1025 calculator missing a box? I just found the one for the one I had that bit the dust more than a decade ago. I think I can unfold it flat and ship it in a bubble envelope sandwiched in cardboard.
