Here is this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News show! In this one, we talk about the "10% marketshare" for Linux, which is likely not the right number but still shows a good trend, we talk about "LLM hijacking" becoming the new SEO, and a lot of cool stuff KDE is doing to make Linux much better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCJ9U_jTprM

Let's talk about #Linux distributions, applications, end of life and unsupported software, and all of that stuff, because as the "distro vs apps" debate heats up again, I think it's time we finally learned that graphical apps shouldn't be correlated to the system's base in any way, shape or form. Let's see why Linux distros need to evolve now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ebkQq5TcMw

This week's #Linux and #OpenSource News video is a bit early this week, as I won't be available tomorrow (another #Warhammer tournament!). In this one, we have Torvalds talking about A.I. in two different ways, and also talking about the "social" aspect of Open Source, we have Wayland beating x11 in gaming benchmarks, and Age Verification growing quietly in a lot of countries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NePj4xHU8I

Here is this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News show! In this one, we have Germany kicking Microsoft out in another state, Windows 11 dropping marketshare like crazy, some insane distro sabotage, and more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpRiMPuoqFg

So, I have spent 30 days with a #Linux phone (#Ubuntu Touch): here are the apps I used, what I tweaked, what worked well, what was hacky, what didn't work at all, and why I'll be sticking with it. https://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWWPebWHs8s

Here is this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News video, where we might have been handed the biggest opportunity we've ever had to take over the PC market, through gaming, and then using that installed base to push towards more desktop use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWxTP8FDocg

Here is this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News show, in which we talk about the Steam machine (looks disappointing to me), about Epic's very own GIT, about some stuff happening at Wikipedia, plus some cool stuff for XFCE, Cosmic, Linux Gaming, and more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5aE1FpFmtY

It's been about 5 years since I've looked at Ubuntu Touch (or UBPorts?), so it was time I revisited this alternative OS. And now with Waydroid in a really usable state, it is really close to being fully usable for me. Let's take a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LzTow_X5b4

I keep getting questions about what I use on #Linux, so I decided to make a video listing every single tool, app, utility, desktop, whatever, that I use on a day to day basis. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2RXI7yuIQI

I finally took a look at #CachyOS. I benchmarked it, compared to #ArchLinux, on the @tuxedocomputers InfinityBook Max 16, to see if it delivered real performance benefits, or if it was mostly hype. It's a pretty long video, but if you want to learn about CachyOS, or that specific laptop, it's the right one to watch! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGQNM6fcikM

Here is our weekly #Linux and #OpenSource news video! In this one, we have more Office Suite beef between the Document Foundation and Euro Office, we have some really nice Plasma 6.7 features coming, and Chrome downloading a 4 gigs local A.I. model in the background without any consent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC_d-65yMxY

As a #Linux user, you sort of need to be a bit careful with the tech (hardware or software) you go with, and I've made a few mistakes in the past years, so I felt it would be cool to look at my worst tech purchases as a Linux user, but also in general: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT7Fp2Zv5fY

Time for a new poll on the channel, this time on how much, or how little you customize your desktop experience! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdr9rDWwdqSwnC9LeGcY_9XSHkGH-0YERbb7YzC5wZSskyJKw/viewform I moved to Google Forms for this one, as Nextcloud Forms didn't let me split things into sections depending on a previous answer. Still no personal data collected on my end. As always, I'll make a video about the results, to see whether desktop defaults are sane, or if...

French authorities declare the use of Microsoft Office and Google Docs illegal in schools and education markets, as they don’t follow GDPR and might disturb later competition by making students used to these proprietary solutions. https://questions.assemblee-nationale.fr/q16/16-971QE.htm

Time for this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News video, which includes Germany's plan to move to Open Source software, more Age Verification crap piling up, as well as the Kernel 7.0 and its new policy to accept A.I. contributions, and a lot more ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkAld223VYI

#Ubuntu 26.04 should release today, so here is my look at all the major changes in there, and there are many! Since 26.04 is an LTS, it will also be the base for a lot of popular distros in the future, and some changes here will likely affect these distros too, so even if you don't use Ubuntu specifically, it's worth a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MYxtL0AW2g

It's been 3 years since I made a video to showcase a few #OpenSource alternatives to popular, proprietary applications, so here it is, a list of alternatives to the likes of Notion, Obsidian, Outlook, Office 365, OmniFocus, OneNote, and more ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NdlRlie-A8

Hey everyone! I'm working on a video to see what the Linux community (or at least people who follow me) actually use. So, I created a little form, hosted on my Nextcloud (hopefully it's up to the task...) It's only up for 2 days, so don't hesitate to share it around, it will help me "touch grass" and see if my preconceived notions are confirmed, or invalidated! https://nextcloud.thelinuxexp.com/index.php/apps/forms/s/XQRzMrs8QTtCjDfSyP4koA9o...

It's time for this week's #Linux and #OpenSource News video, this time with a big segment on Age Verification on Linux, since this thing is escalating, with projects saying they'll never comply with these laws, and others looking at ways to support them. We also have SteamOS moving to Wayland, Ubuntu making a few interesting moves, and more ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYtqghw3LVY

In this week's #Linux and #OpenSource news show, we have some trouble brewing for our Open Source office suites, with OnlyOffice beefing with EuroOffice and Nextcloud, and COllabora having problems with the Document Foundation, the entity that manages LibreOffice. Oh and we also have good news, like crucial stuff coming to Wayland, Linux passing 5% market share for gaming, and more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eweMlWewcVg

It's that time of the year again: the #Linux distro tier list! Of course, it's all subjective, linked to my own use case, don't feel attacked if your favorite distro isn't as high as you'd like, yaddi yadda :D https://youtu.be/dJKne9nWVLk
