Over the years, I've managed to lock myself into a corner made of proprietary software, even though I use #linux I decided to make changes, so here is how I'm removing almost all proprietary software from my Phone and my PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rtuxo1Bw04

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social so amazing that you are trying UT as daily driver :awwwblob: if i had another phone as fallback i would too, the FP3 seems to have good support

  • @thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social very cool! Thanks for sharing :D Curious how it goes with Ubuntu Touch. Here on postmarketOS and I wish we had half the apps UT has! :)

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social On the note of 2FA, I switched to the Light Phone II about three years ago, which doesn’t have app-based 2FA capabilities, so to replace that I got a Yubikey (https://www.yubico.com/), and have been a big fan. Not only does it support one-touch passwordless login with WebAuthn/FIDO2/U2F/Passkeys/whatever they call it, but you can also store normal TOTP codes on them using the Yubico Authenticator app (https://www.yubico.com/products/yubico-authenticator/), which not only runs on iOS and Android but also desktop (which includes Linux). Has all the benefits of using Proton Pass or Authy since it works across multiple devices but doesn’t rely on a cloud service at all to work, which I like (even though I’m also a Proton Mail user and generally like them). Good luck with this experiment! I’ve been on this journey too, can definitely be an uphill battle.

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social Tip about banking app. I like #wise. It works really well in browser with #yubikey #passkey holder.

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social Truly looking forward to learn more about your experience with Ubuntu Touch. But what have I learned as well? You have a Warhammer Channel as well?! Quick what is the Mastodon-Handle? :yayblob:

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social Here’s a plug for #2FAS Authenticator. I use it on my devices and have had zero issues with it. https://2fas.com

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social The only reason I use #Android is due to needing banking apps. I still have my old #Fairphone that runs Ubuntu Touch [which still has my SIM card as it's too big for my newer Android phone]. If #Waydroid could run my bank apps, then I'd ditch Android instantly.

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social Try the vrms package on Debian and Ubuntu at least. It shows what non-free packages you've installed from the repos.

@thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social what happened to your Google Music library? I can still download the music I uploaded there years ago, from Google Takeout, they're an option in the Youtube takeout.

  • @thelinuxEXP@mastodon.social Salut Nick, bonne vidéo. J'avais pas réalisé que le micro-code amd était propriétaire, mais bon, cé carrément mieux que nvidia. J'ai bien aimé "I made my peace with it" pour steam.
