Is there a "sickOS" Linux distro, and, if not, why not?

My first successful launch of @CoMaps@floss.social's Android app on Linux, via #AndroidTranslationLayer! I previously tried using CoMaps with Waydroid, but Waydroid does not support GPS. Very broken right now, but I got it to at least launch after two days of debugging / relearning Java syntax. Hopefully eventually this means I can use it on my #postmarketOS phone!

Too many cool things to do, how to choose? Maybe I just do all of them (but, really slowly).

Considering calling slop-infected projects "nonfree," as copyright-laundered code (in my opinion) isn't licensable under whatever actually-free license the project claims. Is there any substance to this? Anyone else feel the same? I am European, so specifically interested in non-US laws/examples. US seems to lean toward slop being public domain (despite being copyright-laundered…), but I understand that should not apply here.

Fedi has been so seamless recently, but every once in a while I get a little reminder of some jank going on. Here, my Mastodon timeline claims my post got a reply, but clicking on the actual post shows no replies. Hopefully not missing out on something :P

Is there an alternative to libpebble3 that isn't using LLMs? I'm starting work on a #Pebble daemon for Linux mobile but I want dependencies to be FOSS. There's a lib called [pebble-le](https://github.com/leso-kn/pebble-le) though it's not been updated in 3 years. Maybe my best bet though, given the alternative is implementing the BT LE comms myself.

Since switching to #postmarketOS, one of the things I missed most from Android is this curious keyboard app "Unexpected Keyboard," which lets you access most symbols with a swipe. Importantly for Linux, it has Ctrl, Tab, Escape, and arrows! I found a repo called "Unfettered Keyboard" (by @flamingradian), which is a faithful port of the base features from my favorite keyboard! I switched to #PlasmaMobile a couple days back and am so thrilled to be able to use...

Trying out @schmiddionmobile's #Railway app for my trip to FOSDEM, it looks beautiful and notified me about each transit I need to take, across both the Aachen bus network and DeutscheBahn. Very cool, high quality software like the other projects by them. Thank you!

Wow, never seen a ping like this. Thanks for the quick warning, broadcasting here in case someone affected is not in the Matrix room. This is the bug it runs into, breaks booting (can still roll back to an older gen if you have physical access): https://lore.kernel.org/all/bb9ab61c-3bed-4c3d-baf0-0bce4e142292@moonlit-rail.com/ #NixOS

My Fairphone 5 running #postmarketOS re-gained audio support today, with bonus working mic as well!! Seems like the ALSA configs use a device identifier that only matches if you don't use U-Boot, as it sets a different name, and thus ALSA doesn't find it. Temp solved via `sudo ln -s /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/conf.d/qcm6490/{Fairphone\ 5.conf,fairphone-Fairphone5-.conf}` Many thanks to @bshah and @aelin for looking into it and spending time helping.

EDIT: fix is now pushed, will be safe to update soon I hope :) #postmarketOS edge seemingly has an issue with mkinitfs that breaks booting, warning against upgrading for now for anyone else daily driving.
