  I just emailed my power company, Ecotricity, to express my annoyance at their cheerful introduction of a new AI chatbot assistant. Their whole shtick is about being fully renewable and climate positive (though of course they’re now part of one of the bigger power companies so we have to take that far less seriously than we once could). Energy-greedy AI does not sit well with that ethos. I’m sure they won’t take much notice of my views, but maybe other customers will contact them too. #AI #ene...

  Had a good appointment with my GP yesterday. Sadly the change in medication did not help my fatigue. I have 2 years of my 5-year course to go, and I’ve decided to stick with it. My particular sort of breast cancer has a high risk of recurrence so I want to do my best to prevent that. It means I will be living with fatigue for 2 more years, but I know (from a 6-week trial break) when I finish the meds I will feel a lot better!   Pumpkins are such good value. I haven’t grown any this year, but last week I bought a crown pumpkin cheap. So far I’ve used it as the main ingredient for soup (5 servings), risotto (4 servings) and curry (6 servings). There’s still a quarter left! #pumpkins #thrift

  Time for another sewing project thread I guess - people were interested in my pixie coat project so I will share this adventure too 😆 Today I went back to Stitch Kitchen and found supplies for the winter dress I want to make. I’ll be using these 2 fabrics, and also got the partially used reels of thread to match. I love the kaupapa of Stitch Kitchen - reducing textile waste by circulating unwanted items at very reasonable prices. #sewing #thrifting

  I saw The Sheep Detectives today. I went with a friend who is especially fond of sheep and keeps them as pets into their old age 🐑 We both suspected that all the funniest bits would have been in the trailer, and that was indeed the case. We enjoyed it though - it was quirky and fun, and surprisingly moving in parts, along with the silliness. #FilmRecommendation #sheep

  I used to sew clothes, but for a long time now my only sewing projects have been for household items like quilts, throws and bags, or mending. But I’ve been inspired by talented friends here - especially @craftygardennz@mastodon.nz @zeborah@mastodon.nz and @YGathGoch - and now I’m going to have a go at making this pixie coat!   Today I had flu and Covid vaccines, and I also accompanied Mum to the hospital eye clinic for the monthly injections that are helping preserve her sight (she has macular degeneration). As always, I feel so grateful to the science and the health system that make these things possible. We get so much bad news about our health system, which is clearly underfunded and overworked, but some things just work. #PublicHealth
