I just emailed my power company, Ecotricity, to express my annoyance at their cheerful introduction of a new AI chatbot assistant. Their whole shtick is about being fully renewable and climate positive (though of course they’re now part of one of the bigger power companies so we have to take that far less seriously than we once could). Energy-greedy AI does not sit well with that ethos. I’m sure they won’t take much notice of my views, but maybe other customers will contact them too. #AI #energy
